What an incredible career for Len, both on the field and then as a broadcaster and host. I'll always be grateful for his work in beating the crap out of the vikings.

"Just keep matriculatin' the ball down the field boys"

At that point, the upstart AFL was still battling the myth of NFL supremacy and the Jets big win the year before was looked at as a fluke. Len Dawson's Chiefs putting the screws to the vaunted purple people eaters was considered the final nail in the coffin of the NFL claiming supreme supremacy over the upstart AFL.

Rather ironic that when the NFL "needed" the Packers to beat the Chiefs/Raiders- the Packers came through in SB 1 and SB2. When the old guard NFL needed the vikes to do the same, they lost 4 SBs. That's pretty much the story of 2 franchises for the last 60 years.

And Len Dawson saw it all first hand, including winning the last game the AFL ever played.
