Rest in Peace, Pelé. One of the greatest icons in sports, not just fútbol. A 3-time World Cup champion and a revolutionary. He was #BRA’s most iconic Afro-Latino athlete, defying logic & conventional sentiment. At 17, he was a champion. For the rest of his life, it continued. pic.twitter.com/pT82rttjdK

Pelé did it first pic.twitter.com/l6oRYp1eSo
Just the best. It’s not fair to compare generations, but he was so much better than his contemporaries than any has ever been. He and Gretzky and Ruth.
My dad used to talk about him when I was a kid. I grew up with stories about his legend. RIP, great man.
Pele was not only the first to do it, but he did everything with grace and power and creativity. I love how Ronaldo scores, how Messi is tough with great vision and dribbling, and how Maradonna was creative (especially with that "hand of god" line!), but if you put them all into one player, you had Pele.
I got to see him when he came to Minnesota with the Cosmos to play the Kicks, but I had no clue at that time what I was watching. Wish I had known...
