I heard AR throw this out this week when mentioning its a discussion he needs to have with the organization regarding his return. It appears to be the crux of the AR saga moving forward  as it appears that physically he feels up to a return, it's just the risk of reinjury based on the bone not being completely healed, hence MEDICAL CLEARANCE. I really have no idea what his reinjuring the collarbone would entail in terms of recovery. I've heard a bunch of people say so what if he reinjures it, he'll have an entire offseason to recover, but it obviously isn't as cut and dry as this. It would probably eff up his entire offseason program leading into training camp and then next season. Who the hell knows, maybe teams look at how the whole RGIII injury was handled as a recipe for disaster. Again, completely different injuries to completely different quarterbacks.

Then I think what is the upside to the "reward?" A better chance at a return to the postseason, but for how long? Even if Rodgers has the offense clicking on all clynders would GB necessarily likely advance in the postseason should they make it with the defense they put on the field?? I guess what I'm asking is how great is the reward? Do we really believe that this team with a Rodgers return and an average defense is capable of special things in the postseason? See 2010.

Make no mistake, I'm in the camp of waiting until 12 is "medically cleared" whatever that is defined as now. I only bring all of this up because Rodgers did this week, and now even MM says 12 looks ready to return, minus medical clearance which I have no idea whether he buys into or not.

Well, I have no trouble with the Packers playing it safe on Rodgers.  BUT, if he is ready to play, then play him.  The last two victories have given the Packers new found hope.  Also, if there is any reasonable doubt that letting Rodgers play could and would significantly risk further injury...not only to his collarbone...then sit him out again.

One other issue is, should the Packers win without Rodgers on Sunday, then by not playing him until the Bears game...do they risk losing to the Bears because Rodgers is rusty?  At some point, they gotta pull the trigger and raise the green flag.

Just saw Rodgers locker interview and I thought it was kinda comical.  He certainly did not appear to be angry or disturbed by the questions and his answers to them.  He did seem to have deferring the answers to MM.  To me, he seemed somewhat relieved as if he was waiting for tomorrow so this whole thing would be over with.

We've seen this with Favre that sometimes you just never know how many opportunities you will get to win the Superbowl.  I think if you asked anyone in 1996 they would have thought the Packers could or should have won a few more rings but it didn't turn out that way.

To some extent I feel the same way about Rodgers.   We're lucky to have an elite QB but he's also not going to play forever.  The only constant is that you have to get into the playoffs to make it to the Superbowl, and as we've seen plenty of times before sometimes it's not the best team that wins it but it's the team that's got the momentum and swag and right now that could be a team like GB.

What would be a shame is if the Packers fought all this way back to put themselves in a spot to win the division and then they fell just short and we're left wondering "what if" for the next year.   We need to remember that they'd host a home playoff game if they make it in and for all we know they might end up facing the 49ers which would be sweet.   I'd love nothing else than for GB to get another shot at those pricks as well as Carroll and the Seahawks.

Trouble in Paradise??

Rodgers: "They just let anybody in the locker room?"

TT: "C'mon man."

Rodgers: "I'm just asking though."

TT: "C'mon man."

Rodgers: "Just let anybody in the locker room now?"

TT: "You want me to wait outside?"

Rodgers: "I'm just saying, though."

TT: "If you want me to wait outside, I'll wait outside."

Rodgers: "Get your ass up outta here."

TT: "Aight."

Considering he just gt paid a boat load of $$$, that would be unfortunate.  If ultimately TT is making the decision, it will need to be ironed out before next season.

I think the bigger potential problem in this situation, is that he wants to play or at least he wants his teammates to know that.  But, are there double standards?  The coach says he looks good, he looks good, but holding him back due to $$ or future.  Meanwhile, someone else on the roster, gets put out there, because the Packers don't have $$$ locked in on him and isn't a part of the future.  I could see some butt hurt in the locker room over the double standards???

I wonder if the Packers system of dealing with injuries result in healthier players and/or more games won per season?

Rodgers being medically cleared (whatever that actually means) is Dr. McKenzie's decision. The only reason for Thompson to get involved is to support the Dr.'s decision when Rodgers and now it seems McCarthy are campaigning to let him play before healed.

How about happier players ? Jack Bechta at NFP wrote an article about how different teams handle injuries and all the effing around that goes on to get guys paid off/injury settled... and out the door. Or back on the field

Not surprisingly, the Packers were mentioned as one of the teams that did it best and that both the players and the agents make note of how teams behave.

I'll see if I can dig it out.

In the meantime, here's some great work from NFP :

Packer fans will enjoy these
