He strikes out a lot but Mark Reynolds leading off with a hit in the ninth was a huge boost after the dinger to tie.  It seems we have seen different players step up all season when we needed.  Leadership (Lucroy, Lohse, Gomez, others) on this team has supported the attitude of winning.  Defining roles for each player and being consistent by RR well done.  That is why we are in first.

Might not have to.  I had heard about a month ago that he has to be active for 90 days.  Here's what I found:

What happens when a player is selected in the Rule 5 Draft?

A team that selects a player in the Rule 5 Draft pays $50,000 to the team from which he was selected. The receiving team must then keep the player on the Major League 25-man roster for the entirety of the next season, and the selected player must remain active (not on the disabled list) for a minimum of 90 days.

So, if that is right, he must remain active for a minimum of day days.  Does that mean he can go on the DL after game 90??  If so, look for a tired arm soon.

I would guess, until things get hairy, he stays on the active roster.  He still needs to be pitching and around good coaches, that looks a little most suspicious if he is doing it on the DL.  As long as the pen isn't getting beat up, him being the last guy on the team is not killing them.

That could all change with an injury to another reliever (we'd probably need two guys to replace Smith for example).
