Wait, one of the most abrasive jackasses to ever play in the NFL, Shannon "call the National Guard" Sharpe is questioning how Rodgers is liked by his receiving corp?
Do we even know for a fact that's what he said? I can't understand half of the words that come out of his mouth, even with the subtitles on. So we're to assume this nobody writer heard him correctly?
Here's a thought, Mr. Rob Reischel: if you don't want to hear snide comments from our quarterback, tell your media brethren not to ask stupid ****ing questions.
Yeah, "blame the media" for Rodgers acting like a whiny tool. The writers are there to connect the players/team to the fans. The writer has to get his article in and players are required to talk to the media. It's not a well written piece, but he wrote what Rodgers gave him.
In the larger scope of things it's no big deal but Rodgers brought it on himself. He's a cocky S.o.B. and during the game that's a darned good thing because guys who aren't wilt under the pressure. I'm still happy he's the QB.

Like it or not, reporters help shape public opinion. By acting like a petulant child in front of microphones and cameras, Rodgers isn't helping anyone, including himself or his team.
Blame the messenger all you want -- Rodgers' attitude seems to speak for itself more and more all the time.

can we just cut him already
whoops, I thought we were talking about Finley
On top of it all the dude isn't very tall.
Well, he is over 27 and had a season where he hasn't won a Super Bowl so Packers history tells us he won't win another.

I hate to jump the gun. He's had a couple of games where he looked as though he might really have some potential to be a legitimate NFL starter. I say we give him another year and see if he can figure out how to put it all together. There aren't going to be any Christian Ponders available for us when we draft this year, so we may be kind of stuck with Rodgers for another season.
I'll agree the guy doesn't need to be ripping reporters as they try to interview someone else, but it certainly didn't warrant a hit piece like this. The best part is that this was his position overview of the team's QBs for the season. Unfortunately the guy playing the position at its highest level for a third consecutive year isn't meaty enough for a review article.
As to ripping the scout team, it did come just before the Houston game - the team's most dominant effort of the year and start of a 5-game win streak. Sure it probably means nothing, but the on-field results make a better argument for it than reporters claiming it hurt team chemistry based solely on speculation.

there is the whole 'hating old ladies with cancer' thing the media brought to our attention
Unless you win the Super Bowl, the QB of any good team is going to be criticized. They get too much credit when they win and too much blame when they lose.
A couple of posters wanted Rodgers to waive off the punt team in the playoff game to take charge and go for it on 4th down at midfield down 14. I actually thought they should go for it, but you can imagine what the talking heads would say if he did that. Things like "he showed up his coach", "he's showing how little confidence he has in his defense" etc.
If he calls out the scout team for what he feels is inadequate preparation, some people criticize him for making excuses, but isn't that what he's supposed to do as a leader?
Finally, it seems that some of this leadership criticism coming from Finley and Jennings camps has more to do with the fact they feel they are losing money because there not getting enough targets. I'm wondering if Jennings is the source for these leaks that Shannon Sharpe quoted. McGinn says the Packer organization is fairly certain it came from within the team. It's likely not Nelson, Cobb, Jones, Driver, Crabtree, etc. It has to Finley or Jennings. At least Finley is fairly open about things. He sounds like an idiot at times, but at least you know where he stands. Jennings might be the one playing the media behind the scenes because he's worried about people discounting his ability to put up big numbers without a Hall of Fame level QB throwing him the ball (which has been the case his whole career).

He kicked my dog, too.
Is anyone else kind of tired of Jennings? I thank him for everything he has done for this organization, but lately his mouth has been pissing me off. I used to think that he was one of the true gentlemen of the NFL, but lately my view has been changing.
MichiganPacker,
Aaron can't win. If he takes charge, he's called power hungry. If he bites his tongue, he's not a leader.
He's on top of the mountain as far as NFL players go, and everybody and anybody is going to take a shot at him if they can. Drama brings readers, and even if you deem an article to be utter crap, you still read it. Mission accomplished.
I've got no problem with Aaron speaking his mind. He's a football player, not a choir boy. He's a good guy, but he's human, and entitled to get a little ticked off once in a while. If a reporter asks a teammate a dumb question minutes after the season ended, and Aaron says something under his breath sarcastically, so what, ya know?

He's Ageist. Have you noticed it's only children with cancer he pays attention to.
Well hell, who knew it was time to target a QB in R1 so soon? This arrogant SOB should be on the first Amish buggy out of town!

He was right to be excited about his HC throwing a challenge flag when he shouldn't have.

Brady sucks too. What's your point?
Yeah, it's time the Pats move on. They need a real leader who can win for them
This thread is hilarious because it is off the mark on so many different levels. Finley made up for what he said by actually making catches and doing his job. Jennings has been nothing but professional. If I was a team leader and my team underperformed I might be a little chapped. If AR was a jackass he would either say nothing or throw everyone under the bus. Is he perfect? No. He is human. He is also the leader of this team 100% no questions asked. His reputation has taken no hit at all period. End of story.
...and obviously most around here know that.
This article is making a mountain out of a molehilll. Should Rodgers have sacked up and talked to the media? Yes. Should he have kept his trap shut and not have made snide remarks in the background? Yes. Does this incident mean he is a bad leader? No. Only the guys in the locker room can answer that question.
I'm fine with Woodson, but it has to be a reduced price. He's really getting up there & should consider a move to coaching because I think he'd be excellent with the young guys
Yeah, I'd rather have Cutler.
Like Brady and Manning, AR's in the group at the top that the media feels needs to knocked down every once in awhile. Whatever, I think he's doing an awesome job.
And thanks for the heads up, glad I can skip this article.

I would imagine both Manning and Brady are under the media magnifying glass as well. That's what happens when you're the QB of a team that underperforms in the playoffs.
Piece doesn't really seem like anything to get too excited about.

It sure sucks to make the playoffs.
Rodgers didn't give up 45 points.

Then Eli Manning is a great leader!! He either misses the playoffs, or wins a Super Bowl. Genius!!!

Manning, Brady and Rodgers are all under a magnifying glass. That said, Rodgers has to be careful about going too far with his comments. It's okay that he says he wants Woody back in the article, but quit there. To say, "But I’ve said this before about other players: I don’t think you get better by taking from the whole, taking a core guy. And I think he is a core guy,” is going to be looked at as if Rodgers knows better and is telling MM and TT how to do their jobs. That's where Rodgers could be seen as over-stepping his bounds. Go to TT's office, close the door, and state your case. Don't do it in the media and the whole issue goes away.

I have no interest if Rodgers is a whiny bitch or not but that is some seriously weak writing.
"Messengers" also have a job to do, which in this day and age includes getting a good tabloid headline.
Rodgers the bitch, Reischel the scorned lover.

Here is where Reischel comes into play. The book he wrote on Rodgers, “Aaron Rodgers: Leader of the Pack,” was scrutinized by the Packers quarterback and of course Reischel would be upset by the subject of his book not liking it.continue
What a piece of crap article. His sources are Greg Jennings twitter, Jermichael Finley's agent, and Shannon Sharpe?? That's what passes for quality writing at MJS now? How did an editor read that and not say SERIOUSLY ROB?

Rodgers defines success, expects to play well
