I got to see some of the dark days, but somewhat fortunately for me, I started following the Pack in the 1978 season when they actually had a winning season so I missed out on all the bad stuff from '68-'77.

I was too young to understand or care about football really until the late in the 1977 season (3rd grade) and all I remember from that year was seeing Cowboys or Steelers games, have no Packers memories of '77 whatsoever.

So the dark days for me were '79-'80, '86-'88, and then '90-'91.

'81-'85 really was "the best" stretch between Lombardi and Wolf as they never had a losing season and if nothing else they had a great offense for most of that time period.  Certainly they were nothing like they are today, but at least they weren't as "dark" during that 5 season stretch as they were for most of the other stretches.

Ron Wolf really did do an incredible job.  That was one of the great turnarounds in sports history to turn the Pack from laughingstocks into league power in a 5 year span.

During the late 60's and into the early 70's, I was too young and naive to realize just how bad the Packers were. But every season, I'd be giddy with excitement and would always think this would be the year "the Pack is back!"

Growing up in Tulsa, OK, football coverage was scarce. Most times I'd have to wait until Monday to find out the scores of the previous day's game from the newspaper...only to find out the Pack had lost. Again.

There would be bits of excitement during those seasons, and the early/mid-80's were fun, even if we weren't winning any more than usual. It really started building in the late 80's, and finally....redemption for us long-suffering fans.

And we haven't looked back since!
