Packer's Thompson named Top 2 Brokers
TT amongst the elite

quote:

A few weeks ago, NFL front offices were ranked by CBS Sports NFL Insider, Jason La Canfora and the Packers came in third place out of all the league franchises.

Yesterday, the NFL ranked their top โ€˜power brokersโ€™ and not surprisingly, Ted Thompson joined the elite company of Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots at the top. Ranked second overall, Ted Thompson is highly regarded for his relentless ability to drown out the doubters and focus on how to draft and develop. While other teams make huge splashes into the shark-infested waters of free-agency, Thompson prefers to key in on overlooked collegiate talent and take fliers on players he thinks the coaching staff can develop and help fill needed roles in the overall function of teams units.

In his tenure, Thompson has already been part of a quarterback saga that spanned three seasons and two different teams, including division-rival, Minnesota. And facing a furious nation of angry Packers fans, Thompson had the foresight and the intuition in the brutal business of football to make a decision and stick to it. And since then, Favreโ€™s former understudy has blossomed into one of the gameโ€™s best and brightest quarterbacks, delivering stellar season after stellar season and a Super Bowl victory.

Fixed.

This wasn't some all-out rebellion, which remains the meme to this day. I guess he never saw the photos when tens of enraged fans who apparently didn't have to work that day stormed the parking lot.

Most Favre backers didn't go out and yell and scream in the parking lot at Lambeau like a bunch of morons when it was going on, but a strong majority (according to the polls) of fans felt the team was on the wrong course and treating Brett poorly at the time. I, like most fans on this board was on the right side of the issue from the beginning, but we certainly weren't a majority amongst Packer fans as a whole.

I remember polls from ESPN that were strongly on the BrINT side of things, but then again, ESPN and virtually all of their talking heads were firmly in the tank for him throughout the affair. However, let's also not forget that Aaron was booed on Family Night, and I remember being extremely angry when I saw a few goofballs in Favre NYJ jerseys when I went to see the Packers play the 49ers in a preseason game at Candlestick. What made those jerseys really incredible was the fact that Favre had only been a Jet for a little over a week. They must have placed their orders for them the minute he was traded.
