I was there.

Del Gazio lit up one pre-season game IIRC correctly and we thought we had the left-handed Bart Starr.

That daydream didn't last long.

Jake Ryan had more tackles (267-253), 10 more TFL than Stephone Anthony (45.5), one more FF (7) and the same number of sacks (9.5, which was tops for ILBs in this last draft). He also had 7 PDs and 1 INT. 6-3 240, runs a 4.65. Highly productive tackler. Good in zone coverage. Prolific film eater. Incredible work ethic.

I think the kid is going to be alright coming in to sub at ILB when needed and I have some high hopes for him this season. It should be fun to watch him play.

HaHa. Been posting in Packers forums since they started with the 14.4 dial-up, and I've never seen anything like those before. Those are COOL! Where can I get some?

Warren had some? Get the **** outta here! I need these!

Must.

Have.

In all cerealness, Ryan is one of those guys with the credentials and the proven record going into the draft. Ted snapped him, and I'm glad he did. I believe the guy will make more plays for us at ILB than many we've seen over the past 3 years outside of Matthews.

I like Nate there too. Personally, I think we see a bunch of both, with Matthews rushing from the edge.

Whoa... if you recall, neither remembered what happened. Earlier she told Jake she could basically have whomever she wanted.

Needs work in coverage yet, but strong play in the run. Put the FB on his knees.

Good stuff, physical play by a ILB not named Matthews. The kid seems to have instincts and he's not afraid to stick his nose in there. As you said Hungry, needs to get up to sped on the coverage responsibilities but very promising thus far.

**side note: the posters that suggested letting Mike Daniels walk are nuts. That video loop is further evidence- difference maker.

Ryan is looking like a solid pick for us, as is Blake Martinez. Joe Thomas ain't too shabby either! Our ILB predicament looks as if it is sorting itself out. Here's hoping they stay healthy.

Special? We've been looking for a mlb who can run without ****ting their pants, and you are talking about special?

I guess they're OK, but I was really hoping a pair of 4th round picks and a UDFA from S. Carolina State would have surpassed all of Ray Lewis' stats by now.

I don't think it is going out on a limb to say that Martinez, Ryan, and Thomas are all currently playing BETTER than Jamari Lattimore, Brad Jones, DJ Smith, Robert Francois, Nate Palmer, and the immortal AJ Hawk played the inside linebacker position over the past 6 seasons (did I forget anyone among this eminently forgettable group)?

Not since before Desmond Bishop got injured has their been such play at the position. Seeing Ryan flash into the backfield to put a lick on a Lion last Sunday was jarring because I'm just not used to seeing a Packer linebacker do that to anyone.

And to see a #50 in Green and Gold actually running fluidly and staying with a receiver as well as making forceful tackles within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage? Who knew there was more to wearing that number than just being "assignment sure" and jumping on a pile 10 yards past the line of scrimmage to pad a "tackle" stat?

PS I confess I thought Ryan would be a stiff in the AJ mold. Glad I was completely wrong.

So you expected them to have murdered two people?

Give it time. Many people said that Hawk played quite well early in his career. Many, many people. Credible sources.

{Allegedly}

I like what i see also, but I also see the better rb's outrun both these guys in the flat to catch passes, even te's do it...so i am psyched we have a couple non-statues out there, but they are far from complete, but 50 may be able to work on that, he seems quicker and more fluid - ryan is better against the run and he's a better tackler so far...
