During his one and only visit to Green Bay, Palmer met with Packers outside linebackers coach Kevin Greene and discussed the team’s 3-4 defense.

"The visit with the Packers went real well," Palmer said. "They got a chance to get some medical things cleared up. I got a chance to meet with Coach Greene and just talk about football and life.

"I’m more comfortable in a 3-4 scheme, but I have played regular linebacker in a 4-3. It would just be knocking the rust off. It wouldn’t be all new to me."

Palmer understands there is a chance he might not get drafted but remains hopeful for at least late-round consideration. The 6-foot-2, 248-pound prospect opened some eyes while working out during a pro day at Northwestern, where he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds, completed 20 reps in the bench press, and posted nearly a 36-inch vertical leap.

From Rusty's link.... OK, an Urlacher wannabe. I can definitely live with that!
Another member of our army of clones. TT loves them at 6-3, 250. That's why he loads up on TEs and LBs. The size / speed ratio makes these guys almost interchangable on special teams. Lots of uses for them and Capers likes to mix them in special defenses.

Can he add some outside speed? Can he plays inside if needed? Maybe. Until then, he is a special teamer and general hungery guy. Just about all you could expect from this location in the draft.

Apparently Kevin Greene spent some time with him and his coach before the draft

"On his visit to Green Bay, the 6-foot-2, 248-pound Palmer eventually met Greene. They watched film of Matthews, and Greene offered a challenge.
"He said, 'I can get you there, if you want it. If you want to go there, I got what it takes to get you to that next level,' " Palmer said. "(He said), 'All you have to do is be a hard worker like him. I think that's the kind of person you are. Let's go. Let's go to that next level.' "

Nice story, and the guy had a great senior season at Ill. State. He could surprise. I hope he does.

From the article:

"No, honestly I wasn’t,” said Palmer on whether he was expecting to get drafted. β€œI was just watching the draft as a fan. And I was just relaxing and looking to see if any of my friends were getting drafted.

β€œWhen I got the call, I saw the Wisconsin area code and when they said who they were, words couldn’t even come out of my mouth.”
