I know that we are going to have to run the ball to keep them honest and make the play action effective. That said, the Steelers have a historically good rush defense. And if there is a weakness to their defense - which is a big IF - it is the pass defense. I expect MM to spread'em out and let Rodgers work.

"RTFB" is a frequent call in the x4 chat room on game day, but how much do you expect the Packers to run against the Steelers? Let's say the over/under is set at 24 total carries for the RBs. What are you taking? How much do you want to see them run?

I think the Packers will run the ball 15-20 times for no more than 80 yards.

I would like to see them run the ball 20-25 times for 125 + yards, but I don't think it will happen. I think the game plan will be pass-heavy, with just enough run plays to mix things up and slow down the Pittsburgh blitz. I think Jackson will carry the ball the most, followed by Kuhn. I don't see Starks having much of an impact, though I would love to see him bust out in a big way...
Was talking to a friend that's a Steeler fan. He told me every time the Steelers play the Patriots, the Pats don't even attempt to run the ball. They spread 'em out and throw all day long.

I expect MM to do the same thing because it works. Sure, he'll mix in a run or 2 to try and keep 'em honest but I expect a ton of throwing the ball. Probably by both teams
The Pack's running game doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason this year. The Steelers are good against the run so I suspect that Starks will have a big game.

Anyway, it seems like the offense is at it's best when they stick with the run to some degree regardless of success. I sure hope M3 does that again because I suspect AR will get pounded if he rolls shotgun/empty backfield all night long.
The extent of the running game, at least early on will probably be draw plays out of 4 wide sets. But even then the Steelers keep their LBs on the field. Shot gun quick passes early on with a few max protect deep balls is what I expect alot of like the Patriots do with Brady. Fast tempo offense to tire the Steelers out and keep them on their heels.

Ditto. That's what they did last year and it would have worked with this years defense. And that was with Ryan Grant.

Packers will pass early and often until they get a lead they want to sit on. Steelers will force the Packers to stop the run. Hopefully the Packers get a lead that minimizes the Steelers rushing attempts.

Spreading them out also should limit what they're able to do in the blitz game.

Even if we go 4 or 5 wide (which I also think will happen quite a bit), I still want to see either a back or a motioned-in TE next to Rodgers for some extra protection (much if not most of the time).
