Despite what some people are probably saying now (that losing Evans may be a plus because Dekker will play more), this is going to be a big blow to their post-season chances. Evans is a very good defensive player who can guard quick small forwards and he's an excellent rebounder. Dekker is not ready to play 30 minutes of lock down defense against those types of players.
It's a big blow to the defense, and while he's inconsistent offensively he often is the best post matchup because he does math up with Gs from time to time.

It'll be interesting to see how this affects the rotation. I agree that the pressure is on Dekker and he may not be totally ready. He has improved In the offense and isn't a liability defensively, but he could be hitting the wall soon playing the most games/minutes he's ever played.

But who is the additional guy off the bench? Showalter is a bit undersized, but he plays fantastic D and is a helluvan athlete. Anderson got some pt against NE- and I thought he looked pretty solid. Pushes Bergg out to the PF, but it would make them a lot longer defensively. Bergg would still be able to post even if Anderson was on the floor.
I just want to see Anderson on the court. He can back a guy down, block a few shots. Just hate seeing a 7 footer (joins a long line of Ryan recruits) whose best contribution is scout team.

Forgot about Bohannon- he was he first guy off the bench when Evans was down earlier in the season. That's the guy I guess. I like Showalter a lot, too.

Come tourney time the 3 G attack will probably get a lot of play. That's the future anyway- Dekker to me is less F and more G. Not sure how he's listed, but that's he mismatch. Dekker showed last game you can put him on the post and he'll produce.
Senior Ryan Evans suffered a right knee sprain at practice yesterday. He will not practice today and his status for Sunday's game vs. Purdue is questionable.

From the Badger Hoops facebook page.

When I say three guard, I am talking about a line up of Marshall, Jackson, Brust, Dekker/Kramer, Bruggergeren. I think most of Evan's minutes get absorbed by Marshall, so that rotation start to look a little different.

Madison – Ryan Evans appears poised to join his fellow seniors on the court Sunday at the Kohl Center when Wisconsin faces Purdue in its final home game of the 2012-’13 college basketball season.

Evans, who was held out of practice Friday after suffering a sprained right knee one day earlier, returned to practice Saturday.

The fifth-year senior forward wore a brace on his knee but moved well and didn’t appear to be in any discomfort.

According to a UW official, Evans will be re-evaluated before being cleared to play.
