The Patriots are unbeatable.
That Belichick coached secondary is going to cause all kinds of problems for Favre.
Parcells
Fun hearing pat summerall john madden again.
This is a blast.
A little sad to see how many people associated with this game have since passed away. Seeing Chuck Noll, Tom Landry and Hank Stram out there for the coin toss, that was a lot of NFL history lost as those 3 have since passed. RIP Pat Summerall, Fritz Shurmur, Reggie White, Terry Glenn, Wayne Simmons.
My first born was born on December 19th 1994. Sean Jones Reggie White and Santana Dotson we're all born on December 19th also. Freaky.
As a comparison, local espn Chicago is rebroadcasting the 2018 CHI/GB game where they clinched the north. It's cute.
Gee whiz was Gilbert Brown good or what.

He certainly was. God that team was absolutely frickinâ loaded. LT was really the only weak position they had. Ron Cox was playing out of position at MLB too, but he did alright as a replacement for Koonce.
Not sure if Belichick or Al Groh was responsible for those isolations the Pack used to hit mismatches on their secondary that day. Groh was D-Coordinator and Belichick was secondary coach that day. No matter whose fault it was... Belichick would go on to have better days than that one in a few years.
Just think how good Newsome could have been if he didn't blow out his knee.

The hit he put on the receiver to cause the last interception was awesome. Actually, there was a lot more hitting going on than we now see. A lot of penalty flags would be thrown by todayâs referees.
I loved Watching Reggie White again. My God he was soooooooo special.
That was a magical time for EVERYBODY; the players, the team, the city, and especially the fans! Heck, it was for the league too.
After all that time...the decades-long sufferings, getting knocked out of the playoffs each of the 3 preceding years by the Cokeboys...finally becoming the Wold Champs again! It will always be a treasured memory of my lifetime.
Watching Desmond Howard run complete roughshod over the Patriots special teams.
Watching that slow ass Bledsoe get his ass kicked.
Watching Reggie & all 4 D-Lineman rush the passer. Especially Reggie vs. Max Lane
Leroy Butler & Craig Newsome
Craig Hentrich
Bruce Wilkerson
I'll never forget in September of 1996, a cowboy fan & Niners fan arguing about which team was better. After a couple minutes I looked at both of them, laughed & said...."Green Bay is going to kick both your asses." Both guys had no clue how to respond. ðð
Hearing Madden & Summerall
I watched it yesterday....such a fun game. Every time the Pats tried to get some momentum, the Packers would steal it back. They were not going to be denied.
I'd forgotten that they actually fell behind in the game. For some reason thought they always had the lead.

They'd cancel the game. That was the one thing about Butler that I mentioned previously when the HOF thing was going on, he was a text book tackler. Even today he wouldn't be getting flagged. He was wrapping and rolling. Just one of the reasons he should be in the HOF.
Well todayâs game from the past on Fox, not as much fun as last week. Cowboys vs Packers 1995 Championship game loss for the Pack.
One thing I had completely forgotten was how awful Favre was to start that game. I knew he finished the game poorly but forgot about the awful start. The Cowboys were a great team but could have been beaten that day had the Pack brought their A game.
Watched the same and was surprised at the parallels between this game, and the most recent game vs the 49ers.
Couldn't stop a dominant rushing attack, couldn't generate a pass rush, couldn't run the ball, and the offense mostly sputtered.
There was also a similar mix of 'stars', vets, and rookies. We had some pieces, but were likely 1 or 2 short to get over the hump that year.
Isn't that the year we acquired TE Keith Jackson, from Miami? IMO, Jackson was the puzzle piece we needed to beat Dallas in the playoffs. Chumera was okay, but Jackson had quality written all over him.

Keith Jackson in 1996 was what Jimmy Graham was supposed to be the last two years. They traded for him in 1995 and he didn't want to go to Green Bay and only played 9 games that year. He played 16 games in 1996 and caught 10 TDs. He retired after the Super Bowl at age 31.
If he plays another 4-5 years to an age where Tony Gonzales, Antonio Gates, Jason Witten, etc. played he would have been a border HOFer for that era. A down year for him was about 40 catches for 500 yards and he average about 6 TDs a year. If he plays to age 35 and averages that for 4 years, he ends up at 600 catches, 7000 yards, and 74 TDs. As it was, 9 years, 441 catches, 5283 yards, and 49 TDs was a strong career.
I remember that first game vs. Tampa in 1996.
Favre & Jackson torched Tampa for 3 TD's I believe to open the season.
Fun stuff.
I remember Jackson high stepping out of a tackle and waltzing into the end zone on one of those.
And now, to rub a little salt in the wounds, ESPN is going to re-play the "Fail Mary" game tonight at 7:00 LFT. Here's a summation from Rob Demovsky:
I can't recall the exact name of the show, but I think it was NFL Films' top 10 hail mary's of all time, and they actually rated the fail mary above all three of Aaron's signature bombs....unbelievable.

I'm surprised the NFL even allows that game to be aired again. They should be embarrassed and ashamed of that game and should lock it in the vault, never to be seen again.

I was at that game, it rained beforehand and cooled things off, then was muggy for rest of the day. Place emptied out by 4th qtr so we moved closer to field.Great start to a great season!

IMO, A lot of NFL credibility went out the window with the non call for MD Jennings intercepting the ball, there.

I seem to remember that Keith Jackson was quoted as saying, something to the effect of, how he was responsible for one of Brett Favre's NFL MVP awards. A great TE for the Packers. He, however, always complained about the cold weather. I think he was warmed up, a little, when he got his Super Bowl ring, though.

The film maker was probably a Seahags fan, just like the ref in that game.
See Golden Tate tweeted yesterday that it was a catch.
LMFAO....
That game is one of the reasons my interest in the NFL has reduced considerably.

For me it's not just that one game, but it's that they've added so many new rules in the past 10-15 years, officials/referees have way way more influence on a game outcome than they did say 25 years ago.
I don't think officiating is any worse, it's just that games are so choked down with rules enforcements and replay evaluations, on almost every play instead of just enjoying a great play, I'm looking for a flag that ends up reversing it.
I still love the NFL, but there's no question that it could be better if the officials weren't forced to be as heavily involved as they currently are.
