When did we start referring to Wisconsin as "Sconnie"?

I think it is a generational thing. Most of the under 40 Wisconsinites I know say sconnie.

as I'm reading my copy of "Leinie Lodge," I can't help but notice Jake refers to people from Wisconsin as "Sconnie ("Our affectionate name for a Wisconsinite") in his "Beer Talk" column.
I'm 39 and I've said "Sconnie" for many years now.
