Are we watching a changing of the guard at 2nd base?
Fairly nice game last night against Rangers.

I highly doubt the Rickie era is over unless they can deal him. Don't see that happening because I suspect they would have to eat a ton of cash. The future of Rickie will be an interesting story this offseason. Hopefully Scooter can make it interesting...
Rickie at first? First base with Rick?
No way (IMO). The revolving door at 1B during this season is enough for me. Roll with Gamel, Hart (resigned), Morris, Francisco (gulp) or free agent. JSO actually had a piece about Francisco and his numbers actually aren't too bad offensively. I just hate watching him.
I will also state that I can't see Rickie as a full-time 1B. I know I mentioned playing him there this season but only as one of the assortment of stopgaps they have used.
Gennett has played pretty well for the Brewers, but I'm not sure they have given up on Rickie just yet. The problem is the damn contract. If he was making $2MM per year they might have a lot more options.
some specific stats on francisco:
Last 40 games for 1B Juan Francisco (including tonight): 11 HR, 23 RBI, .296 BA.--Joe Block
Credit: Tweet found via Al even though I follow block but missed the original.
Small sample yes but he fits the Melvin profile. I'm not remotely sold on him full-time but then again, I wanted GoGo in a platoon this year. If he keeps this up the rest of the year, I suspect it may be his job to lose next year. He also left handed and if this team sits status quo (Aoki, Weeks, Luc, Braun, ARam, GoGo and Seggy) being a lefty is also a good thing.
I think they can finish strong, because they are pitching well, and while they do not have Braun and Hart, Francisco/Yuni has been an effective platoon. If Ramirez can be 90% of himself, and they get some production out of the youngsters they run out to LF, I'm sure they can finish nicely.
al is certainly committed to talking up Yuni. He is a contrarian, you know, so once he puts his money on a horse, he will ride it to the very end. You need to try really, really hard to come up with anything that doesn't indicate Yuni sucks.
The amount of casual fans who expect the bullpen to never give up a run is pretty close to 100%.
awww, that's cute
There isn't one relevant metric in which one could make an argument that Yuni is effective in any way, shape, or form.

Good to hear you admit your GoGo desire. Talking of Gomez, he was given a long leash as far as his offense went and like to see that with Juan as well. Do you think we will ever see him playing 3B again (last time was when he threw away to bunt attempts)?

Noooooooooo! He could possibly have us pining for the days of Ryan Braun at 3B...
He may be more of an option there next season, and at 1B, because with Morris, Hart(?), Gamel. Look at your crystal ball and who do you see at the hot corner if Rami is not the full-time guy?
If ARam is on the team, he will be the full time guy. If he is gone, I suspect some free agent stop gap. I believe they are pretty thin at that spot at the higher levels of the minor leagues. So, my crystal ball says:
I can live with Juan Fran at third if we trade Aram.
What about the stud in the K-Rod heist?
What about the stud in the K-Rod heist?
Forgot about him! Nick Delmonico...thanks for the reminder. He would be next in line, IMO, inside the org...
pretty sure if Aram clears waivers and is traded, Nick is really, really low on the list of replacements.
Don't sleep on Taylor Green.
Can't even type that with a straight face.
I am sure they would really prefer someone with pop in their wooden bat.
if Scooter continues to hit the ball like this it will be hard to not play the guy every night at 2B
Khris Davis is another guy that is playing well and while he's pitching I'd throw Ty Thornburg in the mix as well as someone that should compete for a lot of playing time next year.
The good thing is that with some of the younger guys playing well it gives them options if they want to shed salaries with guys like Rickie and Gallardo. Francisco is another guy that is intriguing because he gives you a power threat ala Ramirez or Hart so maybe he sticks around as well
Nori needs more days off.
I think Nori and Jean are beginning to wear down a bit. But it's hard to take them out because of the way they get things started on offense and the plays they make on D. It would be great if Scooter could spell Segura for a few games next season and Davis the same for Aoki.
Not hard to give Nori a day off at all.
"Hey Nori"
"ζ ζ εΆ"
"You are getting the day off, it doesn't matter because we suck and your production is really sliding also."
"ε ζ¦ ε‘"
Lead hitter in BA for month of August is fine but he is making plays that we are not supposed to be seeing. Plays Rickie doesn't do like the sliding stop up the middle and firing a strike from his knees to first. Did it two days in a row!!
there are so many positive stories this year (like Scooter) but 18 games under is 18 games under
