Fair point, but also - most of those highly paid coaches in the big programs aren’t still in it this year either. No North Carolina, Kentucky, Duke, Michigan State, Virginia, etc. Connecticut is the only one with past history

Dream on Goldie or maybe smoke on. Marquette will never let him go. And as I pointed out to you before, Gard has a better record advancing in the NCAA than Smart does.  He is just this years flavor of the month.

I do think this off-season and next year will be a big determining factor in Gards tenure in Madison.  He needs some better players and they need to win more of the close games.

I like him, and I hope it works out.

😛.

Please tell me we aren’t comparing Greg Gard to Shaka Smart.

People do realize he’s coached and lead several successful programs and Marquette won the Big East this year- in a conference that advanced a lot more tourney teams than the overrated Big Ten?

McIntosh is taking stock for sure.  They waited too damn long to jettison Granato and his replacement looks really promising.

Gard may be able to coach, but to be successful you have to be able to recruit and more importantly navigate the portal.  Gard is mediocre at best in the latter.

I’ve said it before place a call to Jay Wright and give him whatever he wants.

After Jay says no, call Kim Mulkey.  It’s gonna happen some day.

After turning around a moribund LSU program and seeing as LA is where she grew up, I don't see her leaving for the cold hinterlands of Wisconsin. She's probably have great success, though. (Not a good person, but a helluva coach.)
