S-l-o-p-p-y
That Bledsoe 3 to end the quarter might be a lot more important than just tonight's game. He needs to hit those in the playoffs.
Can never be easy.
Sixers cut it to 6.
Sixers are 15 for 36 from 3.
Middleton was killing them on pick and roll and they stopped going to him. Why ?
This run is all on Bud... they have their starting front court in there, getting abused on the offensive boards, and now a 12 point lead is 6.
Giannis sitting on the fucking sideline.
And what the hell is with the Bucks driving and falling down mid drive all the time? Middleton, Bledsoe, Giannis... everyone losing balance and falling down, turning the ball over.
MichiganPacker2 posted:Middleton was killing them on pick and roll and they stopped going to him. Why ?
No shit... just making Embiidβs job easier.
3 point shooting contest now...
Sixers 17 for 38 from 3
21 for 44 in the first game.
They've made over 15 only 1 other time all year (18 vs. Toronto).
The Sixers are 38 for 82 vs. the Bucks this year from 3. They would need to miss their next 27 3s in a row against the Bucks to shoot their season average of 35%.
Giannis going after Embiid... DPOTY my ass! He canβt guard him!
o.K. TNT is going to play the Lakers twice instead of this Bucks 6ers game.
I love it... Giannis stopping a layup with 23 seconds up 11. See you guys in 2 weeks!
36-20-6 from the MVP.
Make Embiid play football.
Giannis went for 36-20-6 and I actually thought it wasn't one of his better games.
I'm spoiled.

He was not going to let him dunk under any circumstances.
Chicago.

Save it for the playoffs then torch their asses

I didn't think either team played well tonight. The Bucks just have trouble with the Sixers length, but bottom line they still end up winning by 11 playing a C+/B- type game. I do suggest next time they never ever let Horford get the wide open 3s he got tonight. He's too good to let him shoot those unchallenged, make him earn his points, don't make it easy.

..... annnnnnnd they still lost.
Save some offensive concepts for the playoffs. Don't show your entire hand right now.

Just got home from Fiserve. What a joy to witness after all of the painful seasons.

Most career games with at least 30 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists among active players:

22 - Giannis Antetokounmpo
11 - Russell Westbrook
11 - DeMarcus Cousins
9 - LeBron James
9 - Anthony Davis
Giannis Antetokounmpo now has 22 career games in which he's produced at least 30 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists. The only players since the ABA-NBA merger to record more such games are Charles Barkley (32) and Larry Bird (24).

WITNESSING GREATNESS !!!
Giannis is playing better now, than he was last year. Last year he was awarded the NBA MVP. Looks like a repeat performance for the best player in the game! GO BUCKS!!!

Seems typical for any Wisconsin sports coverage by the cable outlets.
Good, maybe the rest of the country won't see how good he is and won't sign him.

ESPN is the dominant force in this area and they invest in marketing personalities. They actually cover LeBron's son's high school games. LeBron's son plays for a high school superteam (Sierra Canyon in California) where D. Wade's son also goes (and two 5 star recruits went to this year as well). A kid that went to middle school with my son also transferred there to play as a senior (Duane Washington- now at O$U and Derek Fisher's nephew). I think Pippen's kid also attended.
So, ESPN markets this team based on LeBron's popularity and encourages kids to join superteams. Sound familiar?
It's what they did with Favre for years, too.
Zion's next.
Giannis' last 10 games - and this is while going 12 for 42 from 3 and 69 for 114 from the FT line (another way to think about is if he shot 33% from 3 and 755 from the line, he'd be averaging another 2.2 points per game - so he hasn't even really shot the ball that well and has still put up these numbers).
31.9 PTS - 15.7 REB - 6.7 AST - 30.2 minutes
PER 36 minutes: 38.0 - 18.7 - 8 AST
For perspective, these are considered some of the best NBA seasons in history.
Chamberlain 1961-62 per 36 minutes 37.4-19-1.8
Michael Jordan 1986-87 per 36 minutes: 33.4-4.7-4.1
Kareem 1970-71 per 36 minutes: 28.4-14.4-3.0

I'm thinking the fact that Giannis has numbers only achieved by Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Wilt Chamberlain, and Lew Alcindor....means he's pretty good.
Watching him in person last night makes it even more obvious - he's the hardest working guy on the floor. He made Embiid quit last night !!! Embiid was posting up and playing with energy in Q1, after he got banged around and frustrated, he started camping out at the 3pt line. In the 2nd half he was whining about obvious fouls and essentially loafed the rest of the game. What a gutless(but talented) player !

The "supporting cast" is also much better than people think. Khris Middleton may not be a second "superstar" but he's a legit All-Star player who doesn't care if he gets "his shots." He's at 51%/44%/91% right now. When everyone is healthy, the Bucks are 2 deep with above average players at every roster spot, and they have 3 of the top 15 3 point FG percentage shooters in the league (1-Hill, 4-Middleton, 15-Korver). They have 12 fouls to use from elite post-defenders (both Robin and Brook stoned Embiid at times last night 1x1) who are at least respectable from 3 to stretch the floor. They are the best defensive team in the league. They are not just Giannis.
The scary thing is for the rest of the league, they are 44-7 and that's with Brook Lopez shooting 29% from 3.
They may not win the title (crazy things happen, like Fred Van Vliet going unconscious from 3), but if you played things out 100 times, the Bucks would probably win the East 80-90% of the time and the title 50-60% of the time.
Middleton is having a very good season and heβs stepped up his game. Heβs shooting much better from the outside and also rebounding better than in the past. I think it has to do with the fact they have more depth to defend the wing and heβs able to take a more balanced approach and play less minutes.
While Brook Lopez and Wes Matthews are not shooting as well from 3 they are getting a nice boost from DDV and Giannis is shooting better from the outside.
The addition of Rolo has been key and Korver is starting to give them more (quality) minutes off the bench.
The beauty of this team is George Hill isnβt even playing right now and they are still working teams over.
If you are the Sixers it must be demoralizing because they made 19 long range shots and shot the ball well but it was clear to me that the Bucks size and schemes gave Embiid a lot of problems and kept their other bigs off the glass. If the Bucks shot better they probably beat Philly by 25. If these teams face off in a 7 game series I do not see Philly beating them more than a couple of times given how they play on the road and how inconsistent their shooting is.
Embiid is an interesting case to say the least. Would he play differently if he didn't get banged up so easily? I have to imagine playing with an injured hand isn't helping his game any.
As an aside, on Martin Luther King day 2017 for the only time in my life, I got a seat right behind the Bucks bench, just an arms length separating me from players and coaches. I saw Embiid up close and personal that day and thought he was a physical marvel, just intimidating as hell to see someone that big move so easily and be so athletic.
The guy I saw last night looked like he's a little bit slower and more sluggish than I remember him in 2017. Who knows, maybe he'll get back to the guy I saw up close a few years ago, but that was probably the worst I've seen him look.
Thereβs no question his health or inability to stay healthy has been a problem. But thatβs nothing new.
The deeper issue is he seems to lack heart and desire and he runs his mouth a lot for a guy thatβs not done much.
Re-watched 4th Q -- Ben Simmons at about the 4:35 mark, man o man what a pirouette move under the basket.
Wonder if the Sixers will keep playing this lackadaisical? They'll get bounced in the first round of they do.
Hey the Sixers won a game last night! π
