BREWERS WIN!!!! 2-1 TAKE THE SERIES!!!
I bet I can hit it 2 feet.
How about these high leverage situations for Williams? It's like he never missed a game.
Also a lot of fun watching Koenig. He looks like he stepped right off a tractor.
Also, 1/2 game behind the mighty Dodgers.
Time to go for the sweep on Sunday's early game. Two evenly matched pitchers to square off against each other.
Brewers are tied with the mighty Phillies for the best run differential at +104 in the NL. They are 2nd to only the hated Yankees who are at +117.
And the Crew is still the only team in MLB that does not have a greater than 4 game losing streak.
Today's game is at 1:10 CT, looks to be on ESPN+
Looks like several guys will be coming off the IL soon including Megill and Zastrynzy
Pitchers look to be evenly matched as Colin Rea takes the mound for the Crew:
Player | W-L | ERA | WHIP | IP | H | K | BB | HR |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
10-7 | 3.71 | 1.21 | 114.0 | 100 | 93 | 38 | 21 | |
10-4 | 3.72 | 1.20 | 128.1 | 118 | 103 | 36 | 20 |
Back to the more traditional line we saw for most of the season. Chourio has slipped into the Yelich spot and Contreras getting more rest but keeping his bat in the line up.

But who will be sent down to keep the active roster at 26? D L Ross, Pegeuro, Mears? Or will somebody else get an "injury"?
Crew takes a 1-0 lead in the 1st after an Adames single scores Turang
Once again the Brewers break out on top. Turang with a triple to right and a RBI single by Adames. 1 -0 Crew, top of 2nd.
Singles by Frelick and Ortiz and ground out by Haase nets another run in the 2nd. Now 2 - 0 Brewers heading into top of the 4th.
Top of 9th 2-0 Crew, Koenig now in for the save opportunity
And that's a wrap, Crew wins 2-0 SWEEEEEP
Crew allowed ONLY 2 hits in today's game
Brewers have Monday off, then travel to St Louis for a 3 game series.
Glad to see Murphy use Koenig instead of Pegeuro in the 9th. With the off day Monday and by Rea going 7 today bull pen should be well rested for the Cards.
Crew wins, ALL 4 of the other teams in the division LOST today.
So here's where things stand after today's games:
Team | W | L | PCT | GB | STRK |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Milwaukee | 72 | 52 | .581 | - | W5 |
St. Louis | 61 | 63 | .492 | 11 | L1 |
Chicago | 61 | 64 | .488 | 11.5 | L1 |
Cincinnati | 60 | 64 | .484 | 12 | L3 |
Pittsburgh | 58 | 65 | .472 | 13.5 | L1 |
In other words if the Brewers played .500 ball the rest of the way, 19 -19 that is, the Cards would have to go 31 - 7 to win the division. That ain't happening folks.

Clearly going to make the playoffs and still in range of a first round bye.
The underlying question about their playoff chances is whether a starting rotation that will send out Peralta, Rea, and Myers good enough to win a playoff series? Peralta has great stuff but is at an ERA of 4.00 this year. Rea is 34 years old and prior to this year was 8-8 with an ERA over 5 in his big league career. Myers looks like he has great stuff and has been very good this year, but the Brewers are the 6th organization of his career and his ERA last year at Triple A was just under 5.
Maybe these guys (Rea and Myers) have become that good, but I still wonder how they'll do come playoff time. Of course, Burnes, Woodruff, and Peralta were as good a top 3 as you'll find and they didn't exactly light it up in the playoffs.
If they can be winning after 7 innings in October I like their chances with Megill and Williams.
Tobias Myers best pitcher in Baseball since June 1st, per JSO:
"Milwaukee Brewers' Tobias Myers has best qualified ERA in baseball since June 1, better than even Pirates' Paul Skenes"
