and he deserved it.

I thought your list of boyfriends had a different golfer (Steve Stricker, if memory serves). You're getting fickle, Goldie.
You funny......Steve is a local boy and I have to ALWAYS root for the local boy. Dustin ??? he has had a tough go of things.....so just happy he won WITHOUT any controversy. Although with the stupid USGA meddling.....it could have been a disaster, but that birdie on 18 was just the best.
So you'd root for Jeffrey Dahmer because he was a local boy?
Although with the stupid USGA meddling
I presume he actually broke the rule? (I was watching the Euros, of course, not the golf.) Golfers are supposedly the most honest about reporting their own rules violations.
Too complicated to explain briefly, but the ball magically moved backward toward his club as he took some practice strokes (without grounding the club to impact the ground).....that said, he is responsible for the movement.
USGA screwed the pooch on notifying him whether he'd be penalized.
The USGA shaves the greens to 13 on the stimpmeter and balls are going to move.
Billy Horschel's ball rolled into the water on 15 after he marked it in this years Masters. Greens are getting to be too damned fast.
Here's the sequence I don't get. Dustin tug hooked his tee on 10. His ball came to rest in 6" rough and settled down to the point he's not moving that ball more than 60 yards. There is a TV tower in his line 115 yards away. Carry to the green is 180. I get line of sight relief but if that tower isn't there he's taking a wedge sideways to find short grass for his 3rd. Probably 20 yards over to 11. I'm not sure he could have made it back to 10 fairway. He's certainly not taking 7 iron at the green.
An official has to be able to look at the lie and take line of sight out of the equation.
Unless it's 2002 Tiger Woods
I hope Erin Hills takes after Bethpage and doesn't let the USGA over bake the layout like they did at Chambers Bay. Erin Hills is a Wisconsin gem. That place has gone to hell and back to get the US Open. I hope they fight the USGA to let the course stand on its own.
I've played golf my entire life. There are three courses I've felt would be great US Open venues. Pasatiempo in the Santa Cruz Mountains in CA. The Bayonet Course in Fort Ord in Monterey CA. And Erin Hills.
Full disclosure. The USGA wants no part of the Bayonet Course because the winning score would be 12 over par. That's the hardest course in America if set up for an Open.
