I agree with you, but I think that last pick by Rasul Douglass was fantastic instinct and recognition on his part.  I can see why Tua thought he would complete the pass, he didn’t expect Rasul to come off his own guy at a perfect moment.  Timed it perfectly to give help and ended up with a great game sealing INT.

And how many times have we seen a gimme interception dropped by a DB or linebacker?

Not today.

I’m not using it all that much anymore. If sacrificing a partial limb gets us an elite receiver, do it. Just give me a couple belts of  Captain Jack, or Johnny Walker, before doing so. Maker’s Mark is also acceptable.

Actually, on second thought, do we know for sure that Rodgers could even get him the ball?

I gotta say, the only thing worse than watching Davante last night getting zero opportunities to help his team is probably being Davante right now. Aside from the blame game, it looks like 12 and 17 still being in GB would be a whole lot better for everyone.

Davante had plenty of targets last night (no, not talking about looting a Target here).  Nine targets, and 2 receptions.

PT had a really nice chip block before leaking out for that 3rd down conversion.

It’s a fun story that GB is still alive but this team isn’t scaring anyone.

Dude didn’t even watch the game but found some negative shit to post anyhow. Way to keep that streak going.

Davante Adams got 3 years and about 70 million guaranteed to play with his best friend in a warm-weather city where his immediate family could easily watch him play every home game.

The Raiders had a crappy year, but sometimes I think we overestimate how much the chance to win a ring means to these guys. I mean, they'd rather win than lose, but I don't think Davante cries himself to sleep at night because he's not going to win a Super Bowl this year. If that was the goal for most of these guys, they'd had figured out a way to force their way to Kansas City or Buffalo this past offseason.

Just like JJ Watt wanted to win a ring and picked Kyler Murray two years ago. Or Tyreke Hill forced his way out of KC to play in Miami for a boatload of money.

I'm not saying some of these guys don't work their asses off and play hard and play with injuries, but not winning a Super Bowl doesn't ruin their year. Now, I understand if you are playing for Denver this year - that's miserable, but most teams are competitive. Even the Denver guys aren't despondent about their personal situations.

The Packers are still a longshot to make the playoffs, but I don't think Rodgers is going to be despondent about it when he flies out to California after the season and figures out how to invest the extra 150 million from his last contract.

The D flashed back to 2021 with both Campbell and Douglas making big plays.  Other than that I think Tua was their best player in the second half.  Good for them capitalizing on it.

In the last few weeks, Tua probably lost about 150 million. 4 consecutive losses with 6 TDs and 5 interceptions after starting the season 8-1 with 19 TDs and 3 interceptions.

Probably went from something like 6 years and 250 million plus to maybe Miami looking to replace him next year. He has Tyreke Hill and Jaylen Waddle, for god's sakes.

Positives:

They won and are still playing meaniful games

The defense tightened up in the 2nd half and forced turnovers

It was so awesome seeing those nice kickoff returns it felt like I was watching Desmond Howard again.

Negatives:

When did it become almost mandatory that every coach goes for it on 4th down?

And speaking of going for it on 4th down someone needs to steal MLFs playbook and erase anything that says throw a bomb down the field on 4th and one

And I will not get started on the fake punt on your own 20 yard line by running it straight up the middle.

100% on the 4th and 1 bomb. Just get the first down.  A lot of teams seem to be doing that lately and I wonder if part of the reason is that PI calls are so prevalent nowadays.

it’s almost as if teams should start throwing longer passes every play because chances are a quarter of those passes will at least draw a penalty.

As for the fake punt, it was a bad decision but it was likely partly made because MLF was getting desperate. He knew his defense sucked and his offense wasn’t much……his offense sucked too.

That’s true but the officials did not call many of them yesterday.

The Phins really hurt Tua by letting him play when he was out on his feet against the Bills, and then the following week when they played him against the Bengals and he gets a concussion again. I would argue he has not been the same QB since then, even though he was hurt in late September. When I watched him early this year, he was making snap judgments and getting rid of the ball on time, etc. While I've never really thought he was a great QB and anything he threw beyond 20 yards is hit-or-miss, he was executing their system. Now, either they are trying to make him throw long or he is just not totally mentally and/or physically healthy. He looks slow to make a decision and not confident at all.

I’m not going to advocate for Dillon to carry it.  Jones, sure.   If the defense is selling out, the bomb might be the perfect call.  Dropped pass or stopped short both turn the ball over.

They finally adjusted to the timing routes and clogged up the middle routes.  Something a good D coordinator would have already known to do coming into the game.

Looks like he was concussed again at some point during yesterday’s game.

@CameronWolfe:   Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel said Tua Tagovailoa is in the concussion protocol. Tua met with doctors today and told them he had some symptoms per McDaniel.

THIS! I read about the tactic before the game. Niners worked it to perfection

I think I Like Dillon carrying on 3rd or 4th and short , he makes it most of the time. But not Dillon everytime Jones can do it well also even break one at times. I think it was because Jones was banged up a bit and we were being  cautious with him.   Maybe?

Yes, because he’s too stupid to retire after the two huge shots to the head he already took this year.  You got plenty of money, kid. It’s not worth living the rest of your life as a vegetable.  The dolphins and the NFL aren’t looking out for you.

There's footage of Adams knocking a photographer on his ass. That tells he he hates losing. There's also plenty of footage of Rodgers finding a way to get the ball to 17 even in double or triple coverage. It's for Adams to decide if he made the right move. His numbers are just as good this year as any year in GB. No doubt $$$ and location and best friend are priorities. But the last target Adams got the other night was ob and he made a great catch, just prior to the int that ended the game. The difference in qb talent is beyond obvious, especially when it's pretty clear Carr won't be getting any better, if he even returns to LV next year. Things being what they are on the field, Rodgers would take 17 back in a second, and if 17 was being honest there's no question he'd have to admit he was better off on the frozen tundra as it relates to football.

I'll just say this much.....

Nobody in the NFC wants to play the Packers in the playoffs. That includes the Niners but the Niners respect 12's game which is why they always play out of their mind vs. Green Bay.

I assure you every team in the NFC would breathe much easier with the Packers out of the tournament.

The Packers won today because Tua was awful. You can't overintrepret everything else.

And now we know why Tua was awful.   Maybe he was trying to keep the Christmas spirit with "Bells Will Be Ringing."

I don't care how much Dillon weighs .... he can't make defenders miss when they are one on one unblocked in the hole, which happens often at the goal line with LBers and DBs..... Jones can. Jones is 8th (minimum of 100 carries) in "Yards per attempt after contact"  Dillon is 29th. Right now Jones only has 20 more carries than Dillon, I don't get that.

The blitz pickup from two angles.

I'm still waiting to see a replay of the game, but I love this play, and I love me some Patrick Taylor.

It looks like a screen to Taylor with the TE stack, the DE is engaged for just a moment just ahead of where the screen would be. Tom looks wide to the DE, also selling the screen, Jenkins collapses the DT inside, opening a lane. Roberts' eyes must have gotten huge seeing that lane to blow up the play.

Taylor recognizes the blitz, re-directs and boom! Rodgers with a side step and throws an absolutely sick pass to Lewis. Runyan doubles with Myers but looks outside to help Newman, who actually has a decent rep.
