The Packers and Lions have met on Thanksgiving 20 times. No two teams have played against each other more on Thanksgiving -- the next highest is Lions and Bears, with 15 times. The Lions have an 11-8-1 advantage over the Packers on Thanksgiving Day.

 

Thursday marks the second time the Cowboys and Raiders will face each other on Thanksgiving Day, with Dallas winning the first showdown, 24-7, in 2009.

 

The Cowboys took a chance in 1966 as one of the newer teams in the NFL and volunteered to host a game on Thanksgiving Day. In front of a record crowd of 80,259 at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, the Cowboys defeated the Cleveland Browns, 26-14. Since then, the Cowboys have hosted a Thanksgiving Day game every year except for 1975 and 1977 when the NFL allowed the St. Louis Cardinals to host games.

 

Thursday marks the 167th meeting between the Lions and Packers, with the Packers holding a 94-65-7 series edge. The Packers have won five consecutive games against the Lions, and 23 of last 26 in the rivalry .

 

Defending Super Bowl champions are 8-2 in Thanksgiving games the following season. On the opposite side of the spectrum, the Pittsburgh Steelers are 1-5 on Thanksgiving (all on the road).

 

Tony Romo has lost only one November home game in his career. With a record of 15-1 in Dallas, Romo’s only home loss came last Thanksgiving against the Redskins.
