I just cannot stand Favre. Overrated interception machine drama queen, taking welfare money that isn't his, sent dickpics to Jenn Sterger while his wife was fighting cancer, etc. And yet so many worship this clown.
Dang, are we not allowed to choose other QBs like Bart Starr or Don Majkowski?
I never saw Starr play but one thing I am fairly certain of, when it was crunch time and he had to make the right throw at the right time, he was money. As great as Rodgers and Favre are/were, they didn't always make the right read or make the right throw at the right time when it was absolutely needed.
If we're comparing Rodgers and Favre, Rodgers gets the nod for me because he's been greater for a much longer period than Favre was. To me, Favre really was at his peak from late 1994 through Holmgren's last season in 1998. He still was really good after '98 but no question, he slipped a notch and never was the all around player he was during those years where he won 3 MVPs. Favre took a tremendous beating in the 1999 season, and even though he would flash greatness after that, I don't think he was ever the same.
Now Don Majkowski of course isn't in the class of those 3 but wow, the guy was 2nd in MVP voting in 1989. He started out 1990 rough after his holdout, but he was starting to look like his old self before he had that rotator cuff injury that he never really completely recovered from even though he played 6 more years.
Yeah, several people mentioned Bart Starr, and then there was this exchange.
Packers would have scored more than 7 points against SF with Starr at the controls. And beaten NY too!
You think Bart Starr could have overcome last year's ST?

Favre was never the same after Holmgren left because he didn't think any of the coaches he had after that were at the level that they could tell him what to do. Credit MM for getting that last good Packer season out of him, but if Holmgren stays in GB, Favre probably gets at least another MVP and the Packers get another ring (with the caveat being that Ahman Green had a HOF-level 5 year stretch that should have put them over the top, but they wouldn't have gotten him without the Seattle connection).
Mike Sherman opened the door to brINT's cage.
Franchise has been blessed with great QB play, but Rodgers is the top and there really isn’t any question
Some call Brady the greatest QB ever because of his rings, so by that measure you go with Starr.
But when it comes to playing the position, it's Rodgers above everyone. And that’s not just for GB.
Starr, no question.

Boy that's rough. A corpse at QB? That's gonna be a tough game.

Yet look at Starr's stats from 1957, '58 and '59. He made Jordan Love look like HOF. I know, different era, but it could still happen.
