Ed Sherman ‏@Sherman_Report 14m Brandel Chamblee also says Tiger should DQ himself. "Knows in violation of rule. Knows right thing to do. Hasn't done it yet. That's sad." Retweeted by Jeremy Schaap

Jim Souhan ‏@SouhanStrib 14m Golf Channel is killing it. Chamblee, Faldo pounding Tiger, saying needs to withdraw, that not doing so will be blight on tourney, career

Seems like this is going to be quite the controversy...
Woods was penalized earlier this year for taking an illegal drop. In Abu Dhabi, his first tournament of the season, Woods thought he had made the cut when he shot 73 in the second round. But he was given a two-stroke penalty form taking a free drop when his ball was embedded in sand. That was not allowed in the tournament. The two strokes pushed Woods' total to 3-over-par 147. The cut was 146.

Yup, he should disqualify himself. JMHO.
Seth Davis ‏@SethDavisHoops 4m RT @miller_scottt: Fred Couples calls this "the greatest ruling of all-time," per The Golf Channel. Precedent has been set in a positive way

Seth Davis ‏@SethDavisHoops 6m The issue is the culture of golf. Players call penalties on themselves. That's what makes it unique. People want Tiger to go above & beyond.

Yep, this is going to come down to a "golf etiquette" thing.

That sounds entertaining. Thanks for the invite, Kiel.
Disagree CBS runs Augusta? No way.

Agreed he should have been dq'd, but those Masters organizers are so conservative they wanted no part of the larger controversy. Tiger should have done the right thing and stepped down, but no surprise he did not. Hardly a high character guy.

That CC has an iron grip on everything involved with that tournament, including CBS.

Interesting article on the handshake arrangement between CBS and Augusta: Master's Unique Sponsorship.

It says Augusta does indeed call the shots, and brokers agreements with three "official" sponsors to cover tournament costs. Most likely that's what dictated how Wood's situation was handled. Unlikely that sponsors shelling out $5 - $6 million each would be happy to see the Master's top draw bounced due to something as quaint as a rule's violation. It's always about the $$$.

Did you think those drinks were going to serve themselves?
I'm sure this happens in nearly every tournament, the difference is that 90% of the players don't have every one of their shots on TV. If the tourny officials following that group did not see the infraction, play on...

I misspoke, I meant Augusta runs CBS. What's really telling is that Nick Faldo was lambasting Tiger on Saturday morning on the Golf Channel. When CBS coverage starts, surprise, surprise, he changes his tune. Lost lots of respect for Faldo, if he believes it, then man up and own it. The guy is a 3 time Masters winner, he can pretty much say what he wants, but someone told him to pipe down, either August (probably) or CBS (definitely).
