Do you think the name Redskins is offensive and they should change it?

NO!!!!!
Yes (to many) and I don't care one way or another.
No. And in general, while I do not consider making comments or behaving in ways that are negative about someone's ethnic heritage, skin color, sexual preference or whatever to be acceptable, I'm sick and tired of the excessive political correctness that is running amok in this country. In the case of the Redskins, I'm certain that the name did not originate out of an intent to somehow degrade native Americans (i.e. indians), so ENOUGH ALREADY! As much as I dislike Daniel Snyder, leave them alone about their name!
It will change eventually. If not in this generation, then in the next.
I'm not Native American so I wouldn't know if it's offensive or not. I could see how someone could be offended though.
Maybe they can change their name to the Washington Iroquois.
Only after the Fighting Irish get rid of their drunken little Irish guy looking for a fight as a mascot.
Of the two, what one is more offensive and why? A - The balding irish guy too drunk to put his hat on straight and trying to fight. B - The Native american with overly red skin who appears to be deep in though.
It's not like we are talking about the CLE Indian's here.

Certain?
"Redskin" is neither descriptive nor complimentary. If meant to pay tribute to the fierce , brave and relentless abo fighters, there are several commonly used names that match well with the logo (which is among my favorites). As it stands, it says the only remarkable feature of pre-Columbian Americans is their complexion.
Given the makeup of the NFL, another name suggests itself.
"Nigger" is, after all, only a regional corruption of a clinical term for the most common pre-colonial phenotype found in sub-Saharan Africa. A term which derives from Latin for "black".
IMO, It's a term that would still be in common usage were black Americans only 1% of the population, like the aboriginals.
The absurdity of this idea shows the absurdity of clinging to "Redskins" because of tradition.
Redirect the energy and resources used by those who want the name changed to something more meaningful that may actually make a difference in someone's life.
Washington Bullets. It's available and a marketing winner. You're welcome Danny.

Yeah, we'd have cancer AND light speed travel licked by now if those anti-Redskinners would only get their priorities right.

The Al contingent has spoken.
Can't we all just get back to religious white dullards laying out the truth of things?
I'm good with, "Chiefs", "Braves" and "Indians"...
"Redskins" is, um, kind of pretty offensive.
I'm torn, however, because the loudest support for change seems to come from feel-good, guilty-for-being-white-folk.
Florida State bought off the Seminole Nation------maybe Danny can do the same. Perhaps buy the Indians some fire water?

That's what the Oneida nation thinks too. Silly red niggers.
Ok, so Washington Bullets is obviously out (Eff you The Wire) I thought it had legs.
Washington Apache's? It keeps the theme in place. It's not specifically stereotypical AND it's a US militarily funded death machine. Everyone wins except Cowboy fans in Afghanistan.
Best comment ever on the subject. "Slap a potato on the helmet. Problem solved."
And why not the noble potato? It saved Ireland until it didn't.
Half baked or fully loaded. Implications either way. Think of the children.

I like the concept, but I'd just go with Washington Drunks With Junked Cars Piled Up In The Front Yard. That's slightly less racist than Redskins. And it's catchy. Win-win.
Take away "piled up". It denotes ownership (theft) of multiple cars. I'm good with this.

Call them the Washington Spuds.
I'm not offended. They have been called the Redskins forever. However, the politically correct society we live in now says otherwise.
So change it to the Redmen. Then you don't have to change the helmet.
Move the team to Idaho and call them the Red Potatoes. Their name is half right now.
I think we've drilled this down to the right answer.
Washington Potato Skins.
Goodell, let us know when you want to know what really constitutes a catch. We'll knock that out as well.
Washington Mohel's

I think you need to quit making crap up and actually look up the real and original meaning of the word "nigger".
a small hint, it has nothing to do with color.
