Not sure how many people follow this kid's story, but he burst on the scene in 2019 when as a HS senior he won the state 100M championship. Also set the national HS record.

He just turned 20, word is, when he decides to start taking "supplements," Usain Bolt's records are going to fall.

This video is from when he was in HS...the audio is priceless. Listen to the end.

I became aware of him in the 400 M - because its my favorite race
Its too long for the pure sprinters and too short for the distance runners.

Its pure pain and agony from the final turn to the finish line...nothing but respect for the ones who run it.

The Final Phase of the 400

"This is where things can start to get messy, especially if you didn't get the other phases right. However, no matter what went down previously, the final phase of the 400 is literally hell on earth. There is nothing like it in all of sports. Sprinting when your body is racked with lactic pain and  your brain is screaming at you to stop... is difficult to say the least.  But be assured, these mental tricks have no more than marginal effects. It will hurt like hell. There is no way around it."
You will claim you'll never do it again, but you will. "

Jimmy Johnson famously said: "Fatigue makes cowards of us all" and that race is definitely not for cowards

From what I've read - the 400 M is what Boling is gonna run at the Olympics and he makes it look effortless while racking up record- setting times.

No one actually volunteers to run the 400 until they fail at the 100. This kid is so amazing. Getting me pumped up for the olympics.

All three of our kids ran track, one at a D1 university. Our middle child was a hurdler. She won the argument about what the toughest race was. She argued that the 400 was awful, but imagine running almost that long, getting into the final phase of the race feeling like you do at the end of the 400, and then having to will your body to jump over a hurdle? That last hurdle of the 300 intermediate hurdles was the toughest part of a track meet. And then they go and increase it to 400 meters for college.

Crazy stuff.  She definitely wins.

Listen to the end....the Jamaican commentator all butt hurt USA smoked the Rasta Boys...says Matthew Boling had "just enough of a cushion to pull ahead."

Spoiler alert...he wins by 5 meters.

Oh whiteys. You quoted it in meters so no one in America would understand. 5 m is not that impressive. So X4 understands, 5m is the length of a regular schlong. That is, one average JAMAICAN shlong.

His dreams for the 100 in the olympics just ended, he didn’t qualify for the semis. The good news is his best event is the 200M and those trials are next week.

Once he turns pro and gets on the same cycles as the pros, he will have a shot in 2024 in the 100 for sure.

Sprinters these days are just not human…they are built like LB. He is giving away 30lbs of lower body muscle to these dudes.

And what in the world is taking place in Botswana? When I lived there a long time ago the Botswana 100m record was a paltry 10.74 seconds. Now, some kid from Botswana is the junior 100m record holder, with an insane time of 9.91 seconds. Ben Johnson ran that time loaded with steroids and we all thought it was insane until the drug test came back. This kid, Letsile Tebogo, ran the first 90 meters and practically back pedaled the last 10m. Crazy!
