The entire premise of the movie revolves around a Christmas party in the Nakatomi Plaza on Christmas Eve. Including a tree, holiday music, presents, terrorists, cocaine. It’s all there.
But the fact that McClane is trying to rescue everyone in order to spend Christmas morning with his family is where the argument ends.
Its not only a Christmas movie. It’s a great Christmas movie.
For some reason I feel like a Die Hard.

Because your wife if right. It takes place at Christmas yes but that does not make it a Christmas movie.

Also, of note....my wife sets up the DVD player in the kitchen on Christmas cookie baking day and watches her favorite Christmas movies.....Scrooged, Elf, Die Hard 1, Die Hard 2
