Lions went from long-term stability at kicker with Eddie Murray and Jason Hanson to an unmitigated disaster. They felt they could just plug someone in and it'd be fine and it's often not that simple. It certainly makes me appreciate TT's good judgment in sticking with Mason Crosby when he was struggling.

Coach Rex Ryan always keeps the team on Eastern time for West Coast trips, but Smith was thrown off because he saw the time on his cellphone, which showed Pacific time, a source said. The mix-up happens to a player on every West Coast trip, another source said.
