Do I need to subscribe to YouTube TV to get Sunday Ticket?

No. Google will offer Sunday Ticket in two ways. One will be an add-on for YouTube TV, the company's existing live TV streaming service that currently costs $65 per month and is designed for cord-cutters who don't subscribe to cable TV.

If you don't want to sign up for YouTube TV, however, you will still be able to get Sunday Ticket through YouTube Primetime Channels.

What are YouTube Primetime Channels?

YouTube Primetime Channels, which launched in November, allows you to subscribe to services like Starz, Showtime and Paramount Plus and watch them directly on YouTube without the need to bounce between individual apps. Each requires a monthly fee. With Primetime Channels, you will be able to sign up for Sunday Ticket on its own for a fee, without needing to also shell out for YouTube TV.

Good info, DJ - thanks.  Well, looks like I won't be able to strong arm DirectTV into giving it to me for free anymore.  It was nice while it lasted.  But $65/mo. for YouTube?  And then a separate charge per game or are they all included?  Christ, it's getting to be time to cut the cord I guess.  But by the time you pay for all the subscriptions you want, you're paying the same you were for cable.   Plus I lose my DVR.  I can't lose my DVR.

YouTube TV carries all the major channels and eliminates the need for cable. Unlimited dvr. Best service I’ve ever had to watch tv since the black and white Zenith era.

And you can DVR any program and keep it for 1 year.  I’m setup so all Packer games (among other things) are recorded and available whenever I want.  I can watch the game live and then go back and re-watch it.  I’ve been very happy since I cut the cord to cable and switched to YouTube TV.

Had YouTube TV for 4 or 5 years and love it.   Started at $35 a month to draw people in, but at $65 now it's not too bad of a deal.  As others have said, unlimited dvr is great.

For all sports, I've been using uzzu.tv for 2 years now.   When Fox Sports WI switched to Bally Sports WI they ended the deal with YouTubeTV so I couldn't watch any Brewer games.   Tested out uzzu for a month in April of 2021 to see how it would work.   Had some very minor buffering problems here and there, but no worse than what I get with YouTube TV.

You can watch straight from the internet on phones and tablets.  I have LG Smart TVs so I was able to download Net IPTV and get uzzu via the app.   Was $20 for the month, but on a yearly plan it's about $115 for the year.   I get all MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, and regional sports networks (Fox and Bally).

They have weekly plans, too - I would encourage everyone to test it out and see if you like it.

That's helpful information.  I'm going to have to check that out.  Probably won't make the switch until I need YouTube TV to get my Packers games.  Might have to get a new TV too.  It's 11 years old now, and while a great TV (Sony Bravia 4K), it has a few conflict issues on occasion with sub services like Netflix because the software on the TV is no longer supported.  It's old but still has a fantastic picture.

As long as it's got an HDMI input you can get an Amazon Fire Stick (or a Roku or Apple TV or...) for about $35 and have all the up to date apps. Don't trash a perfectly good TV because of outdated software.

THIS! I have five year old Samsungs and they don't have all the streaming apps (It's a money issue) so I got a Roku and everything works so much better.

During the 1980's, I worked for a retailer that sold almost EVERYTHING; from major appliances and TV/Audio (including VCRs!) to bicycles, lawn mowers, and probably many other things I'm forgetting.
We also had to do our own credit and collections, including repossessions when necessary, and that's how I acquired my first (console) TV, stereo, and microwave oven. It was a good way to purchase some nice stuff that I otherwise wouldn't have been able to afford at that time.

What I learned then also proved to be helpful when replacing these things, or making future purchases (refrigerators, washing machines, etc.).

Have fun!  Cabo's a fun place.  My wife and I were on our honeymoon there.  We had intentions of going to Sammy Hagar's bar, Cabo Wabo, and noticed one night there was a huge line outside.  It was Sammy's 50th birthday and he was giving out free tickets to his bar for a show he was putting on to celebrate.  Had no idea, but the line was too long unfortunately.  We did make it to the bar another night.  Nice place.
