I remember the comments Aikman made about how the league's rediculously wild popularity could eventually nosedive because of the concussion/player safety issue.

I say games continuing to look the way they looked tonight because of poor officiating is another good way for the pro game to lose it's luster. As long as they keep affecting the outcome of games, sooner or later people aren't going to care about the games and their teams anymore.

Won't be. Roger Goodell is a greedy pr*ck and will do whatever he likes.
No, he's just doing what the owners want to do. The league is loaded with dead weight owners (I don't need to go through the lengthy list) who don't give a **** about the product on the field so long as they're brining in a profit. It will probably take more incidents just like this one over a period of a few weeks for something to get done.
I thought my biggest fear was the Seahawks defense headhunting, especially for ARod, and they wouldn't be calling them, much less protecting them.
And we've seen a bewildering array of PI/OPI calls (and not), among many others, and bizarre interpretations of the rules and had learned to live with them.
And then....tonight.
My ass is sore.

I've heard that the Charlie Casserly called into the NFL Network postgame show to tell everyone that the right call was made, a no-talent hack like him was probably doing damage control at the behest of the league. I'm betting we see Goodell and the rest of his **** goblins close ranks behind these scabs and say the same thing tomorrow.

I saw that segment and don't recall Casserly towing the company line. I do think he made the point that it if the call was turnover, it would have been hard to overturn the call and that the ruling on the field was going to be hard to overturn, it hour clear evidence, which I think is a fair point.
I think that a considerable drop on TV ratings would get someone's attention. I will not be watching football this next weekend. I turned off the Raven's NE game with about 2:30 left Sunday Night because it was completely unwatchable. These Refs have no control on the field. Missing basic calls that need to be made for the safety of the players like calling plays dead then everyone is going after players after they are legally down but not blown down.

I can take losing if a team beats you. It is the total lack of control and professionalism that the NFL seems to be promoting that is what I cannot stand. While I am interested in the response to this "problem" it will not affect my lack of interest at this moment.
