I dunno about that. Still got Wells and Williams at the tail end, both obviously good, solid players. Tom Braatz (Brent Fullwood, Tony Mandarich, Darrell Thompson, and a bunch of other awful players) may have been even worse than Sherman, although he did draft Sterling Sharpe in '88. Sherman obviously never drafted a player approaching that level.

Have to agree and it's not even close. I honestly can't remember anybody but Clark, Tuaolo and Davey even seeing the field in the regular season. And none of them were anything but serviceable. Wells and Williams were great picks for 6 and 7. Carroll, Thomas and Washington did play as well (although I'm not sure you could label any of them as serviceable).
Reading comprehension. What makes the 2004 draft heads and shoulders above '91 is Wells and Williams. Nobody from 91 made close to the impact that Wells did. I would understand the argument of Davey or Tuaolo vs. Williams. However, Williams was a nice player and ended up netting a 2nd rounder as well.

I do stand corrected on Washington. He never did step on the field.

That draft for those playing along:

Tony Bennett Linebacker Mississippi
Darrell Thompson Running Back Minnesota
LeRoy Butler Strong Safety Florida State
Bobby Houston Linebacker North Carolina State
Jackie Harris Tight End Louisiana-Monroe
Charles Wilson Wide Receiver Memphis State
Bryce Paup Defensive End Northern Iowa
Lester Archambeau Defensive End Stanford
Roger Brown Cornerback Virginia Tech
Kirk Baumgartner Quarterback Wisconsin-Stevens Point
Jerome Martin Defensive Back Western Kentucky
Harry Jackson Running Back St. Cloud State

Random Thoughts:

Remember watching Baumgartner play...wonder if he did anything of note after being released? Arena? Canada? Nothing on Wiki...

Anybody remember why they let Paup walk?

I thought Jackie Harris was going to be something special.
That 1990 draft yielded eight players -- Bennett, Thompson, Butler, Harris, Houston, Wilson, Paup and Archambeau -- who played at least five NFL seasons, and Butler, Harris and Paup each made All-Pro. Even 8th-rounder Roger Brown caught on with the Giants' Super Bowl champion squad after being cut.

Paup was offered $7.6M over three years by Buffalo, and the Packers claimed they couldn't match it. Also, Wolf wanted one of his draft picks, Wayne Simmons, to be their featured pass rushing LB.
