Can anyone remember a returning player getting a little video tribute midgame? Can't think of many that would really warrant one besides Woodson. I'd be curious to see if Sitton gets any acknowledgement.

I'm the self proclaimed Packers/Bears rivalry historian here. I posted this the last couple of years, and it needs to be posted again.

----------------------------

The last several years, I've reminded people of this and now again it is my duty to remind all of you that it is the bears that were, are, and always will be our main rivals.  Period.  Full Stop.  Next Paragraph.  There is no discussion.  There is no debate.  There is no 2nd place.   It most surely is not Detroit.  And regardless what some may think or thought for a brief time, it is not the Vikings.  The Vikings are, at best, your annoying little brother.  They have moments.  But they are harmless, they are meaningless, they are losers.   They are to be mocked, surely, but they are not the rivals of the Green Bay Packers.

The bears are the rivals.  The bears should always, relentlessly, and continuously be hated above all else.  We could win 43 straight games against them, we should still be filled with hate of 1000 white hot suns as we go for win 44 in a row.  They will still be the most hated and storied rivals we have.  We cannot and should not discount this team, this franchise, or their fans.  Favre playing 2 years in Minnesota changes nothing.  Minnesota being 5-0 changes nothing.  It is the bears that all Packer fans should hate above all else.  There should be no pity.  There should be no empathy.  There should be no feelings.  F**k the bears previously.  F**k the bears today.  F**k the bears forever.

61-7.  Perry over Cumby.  Ditka. Kevin goddamned Butler.  Their goddamned horrific fields.  Dan Hampton.  Their fans.  THEIR F**KING FANS.  Doug Plank.  Buddy Ryan.  Hub Arkush.  Doug Buffone.  Butkus.   Coming back to you now, isn't it?

No pity.  No mercy.  F**k the bears.

With that, let's revel in the top 5 best wins over the bears.

 1. NFCC game 1/23/11 21-14 win.  For pure importance it doesn't get bigger than this.  Literally it can't unless rules are changed for who can play for SB.  Only the 2nd playoff meeting of all time.  In Chicago.  Winner goes to the Super Bowl.  I've never been so amped/nervous/demented about a game in my life.  Mainly because I'm fairly confident my father would have died that day if they lost.  But, also because as disappointing it would have been to lose the NFCC, losing the NFCC to the Bears would have been an absolute horror show.  I sometimes think beating the Bears in the NFCC was more satisfying than the Super Bowl win, as no matter what - we will always be able to say we beat them at their place and prevented them from going to the Super Bowl.  That said, I know the win wouldn't mean as much without the SB title.

2. After Further Review 11/5/89 14-13 win.  I'm a sophomore college at Illinois.  Surrounded by Bears fans.  The emotions of that play go from elation to getting trash talked to doing the trash talking.  Ditka still pissed off to this day.  The asterisk.  Plus, at the time you really thought this was a resurgence of the Packers after years of hot garbage, as well as a win in a 3-18 stretch vs them.

3. Taken by Chester Marcol! 9/7/80 12-6 win.  The glasses.  The single bar facemask.  A guy named Chester.  Sudden Death.  Craziest ending ever.  I hope he still has that football...

4. The Monsoon game 10/31/94 33-6 win.  Torrential rain.  Throw back uniforms.  Favre "running" for that 36 yard TD.  Sayers and Butkus getting their jerseys retired at halftime and then pour it on more in 2nd half.  I really thought we were up much bigger at half, but it was only 14-0.  Monday night game that introduced the nation to the new Green Bay Packers.  Cannot for the life of me find any video at all from that game.

5. Epic Beatdown 11/9/14  55-14 win.  I lived through 61-7.  I heard Dan friggin Jiggets talk about it on Chicago radio every 12 minutes.  Knowing that they probably could have put up 80 and backed off is even better than topping 61-7.

6.  COBB!!!!! 12/29/13 33-28 win.  Maybe the 3rd most important game in terms of playoff impact.  Rodgers first game after coming back from collarbone.  Winner goes to playoffs.  Great game back and forth.  Boykin with the crazy fumble recovery TD and of course the Cobb TD pass after Rodgers just missed getting killed by Peppers.   I was SCREAMING about Jordy getting murdered on that play and it wasn't called.  Thank god we don't have to relive that missed call.

Again.  F**k.  The.  bears.  ALWAYS.  Sweep the leg.  No mercy.

The Monsoon game is maybe my all time favorite. I remember the wind blowing hard and the rain just pelting Sayers and Butkus while they tied to make their speeches. Favre tackling Edgar Bennet in the endzone after a nice long TD gallop in the mud (he was a mudder if there ever was one).

Hey, we need some good news right?

GREEN BAY - Jared Cook strolled through the Green Bay Packers' locker room without a walking boot Tuesday, a sign his recovery from a right ankle injury is progressing.

Cook would not say when the boot was removed, indicating only that it was recent. The Packers' first-year tight end said he has started workouts, but is not yet running.

Running full speed will be the next step in a rehabilitation process Cook said is “not far off” from completion, though he gave no indication of when he might return.

“It feels pretty good,” Cook said of his right ankle. “Tender and sore in some spots, but I’m working out now, doing drills. So I’m good.”

This is all a bit odd.

If Rollins and Randall are a no-go, Hawkins would basically have to play, one would think. There's only two healthy CBs on the roster then and we'd see the four-safety dime package, likely Gunter pressing on Jeffrey, Burnett over the top and zone across the rest.

After catching up on the posts from the past few hours it is clear this board needs a major cleansing.  45 - 10 tomorrow night would be great.

If McCarthy tries to win the game running the ball with Knile and Don (who is still on the PS), he should be kicked in the nuts.

His QB is struggling, let him work out the yips with about 50 or so passes.

He didn't play last week with those guys out, they played Burnett as a 4th corner.

Randall started the game, but left early. I'd like to see Hawkins get some snaps as well given the dire circumstances.

Where is Crockett?   If he's healthy, why aren't we giving him a chance?   I'll admit I don't know anything about Knile, but I sure don't feel good about having a fumbler on the field.

He's been on Injured Reserve since the start of the season.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy still won't rule out Eddie Lacy for Thursday night. "Eddie Lacy will work with the rehab group today at practice," McCarthy said. "Frankly he's going to have to have a wonderful, great 24 hours to play in the game."

Wonderful 24 hours? Quick, give him a plate of ...

Ugly...

Rob Demovsky ESPN Staff Writer

Seven Packers ruled out for Thursday's game against the Bears. That's a full inactive list, and it doesn't include WR Davante Adams (concussion), who is questionable.

To move up Jackson (when Lacy can't go) they'd need to cut someone and expose them to the waiver wire. They already lost Callahan, which McCarthy was not happy about.

I'm guessing they want to keep Jackson on the PS and don't want to expose someone like Ringo. If they bring up Jackson they'll end up cutting him when Starks and Lacy are both 100%

According to Adams, he flat denied having one on Sunday night. But then the Packers listed him as in the protocol. He said he felt fine so I'd tend to agree it was probably minor.

Monty, Trevor Davis, and GASP! Janis!, I would assume would figure into much bigger roles tomorrow night if Adams can't go. Abby isn't really a loss since he's done essentially nothing when healthy this season (which I still don't get).

The OL should be healthy.

I think part of trading for K.Davis vs promoting Jackson is so they can get T.Davis off the KOR team. T.Davis has speed and they need someone to stretch the field to help with the crowding underneath. Hell, alternate Davis and Janis on a fly every down and let Nelson, Cobb, Montgomery work the underneath.

For , Jay Cutler, Eddie Goldman, Jeremy Langford and Josh Sitton are doubtful. None practiced this week. WR Eddie Royal is OUT.

The Bores are down to their 4th/5th CB's as well.

Hey Boris, maybe you should bet the over

Since Abby is out, maybe they'll hold Adams out and we'll actually get to see what Monty and Davis can do with some reps. Get some speed on the field. Heck, maybe they'll use Janis and Davis at the same time! Ummm... okay that's a too-creative alternate universe for MM.

Big Show had beat writer from Chicago on and he painted a dismal picture of Da Bears in all facets of the game. Defense flawed. Hoyer moves ball, can't get TDs, and Kicker sucks. Sitton out etc.

Very interesting to read those contract numbers, Herschel. Thanks for posting.

I'd like to be wrong, but I don't think his age and injury history would ever justify a $5M + salary. It's cheaper to eat the dead money!

Likewise, ARod's contract provides plenty of food for thought. Speaking of windows, his is closing for an extension with the time remaining on it.
Would the Packers pay $20M/year, or more, for another 2-3 years of crap? Would they pay it for vintage ARod?
