On the day after the Brewers beat the Cubs but they still win the division, I can't help but think about 2018. Theoretically this truckload of super prospects should be coming up and getting their feet wet by then, if not establishing themselves already.
With that in mind, are the Brewers truly a reflection of the Cubs just a couple years behind? We are starting to see how special this lineup might be, and young pitching is starting to flip the script and establish themselves. Suddenly, they have the Cubs' number. The Cardinals too. Is this a glimpse? Or just a baseball thing.
The Cubs of course would not be where they are without some simply amazing pitching acquisitions- Arietta and Hendricks for nothing might go down as two of the greatest ever. Under the radar trades that win back to back Cy Youngs ? Ridiculous.
And they also traded scraps for Rizzo, a journeyman for Russell, and drafted the rest.
