Thompson Elaborates on Free Agency
Though Ted Thompson generally reveals little about his modus operandi as general manager of the Green Bay Packers, he provided a glimpse into his aversion to signing unrestricted free agents from other teams.
The main reason probably is the high cost of doing business in the free-agent market. Teams usually have to pay a premium to sign an unrestricted free agent of appreciable quality, and Thompson seems especially reluctant to risk overspending on another team’s player.
But in his session with reporters on Thursday, Thompson brought up another concern: Creating discontent in his locker room.
Thompson, who had a 10-year career in the NFL as a backup linebacker and special-teams player, appears to be especially sensitive to how the signing of free agents can affect the players already on the team.
“What’s that do to the locker room?” Thompson said of signing free agents. “You bring in somebody from the outside and all of a sudden he’s making a lot more than a guy that’s already been in your locker room and been a contributor, what does that do to the locker room? We’re not against it, we’ve had some guys we signed as unrestricted and they’ve performed well for us. But I do think it’s something you have to be careful.”
disagrees.
Very interesting comments from TT on the role of locker room chemistry and free agency. It's impossible to argue with his approach based on the results.

Bulaga thanks Tauscher for help

Part of the hoopla surrounding the team photo issue last week was quarterback Aaron Rodgers pointing out that some of his teammates had not been around the team much since being placed on injured reserve.
Right tackle Mark Tauscher was not one of those guys.
He was rarely seen in the locker room, but he was often on the sidelines and behind the scenes working with rookie Bryan Bulaga.
Bulaga’s play Sunday will have an enormous influence on Super Bowl 45. He’ll be lining up opposite LaMarr Woodley (who had 10 sacks in 2010) most of the day.
The rookie said he’s ready and credits Tauscher for his constant help.
“Especially during the week, he’ll go in there and watch the other team – he’s probably played the other team at least once or twice during his career,” Bulaga said. “He’ll just give me a little background on what he thought about them. Duringthe game, he’ll be able to watch me and tell me what he thinks about my set, about what he thinks the guy is doing and how I’m doing against them.
“I mean, he’s really just been helpful all over. I appreciate every bit of information he’s given me. I’m a rookie and you could say that I was thrown into a difficult situation, never played right tackle before and Week 1 against (Brian) Orakpo. So, every bit of information I can get is helpful and I use the most of it.”
“If someone has some insight for me, I definitely take it and use it to my advantage.”

Had no idea Tauscher was helping Bulaga that much. No wonder he's playing better.
Tauscher = O-Line coach???

True MJ but what exactly is specific speaking of? If he is speaking about Haynesworth-type deals, you will see I am 100% against those bank breakers. I will still stick to my guns and say I would like him to be a bit more open to this route of supplementing his team. However, you really can't argue about the results.
That is...until next summer...

You should try it sometime.
You'll like it.
Thompson has made me a believer with his approach. My biggest concern tomorrow is the OL as well. But they have a big problem with Raji.
Some of them.
Bitter is no way to go thru life son...
