From www.vikings.com, "Bud Grant, a Minnesotan..."

Nice.

Lombardi on Packers.com

Vincent Thomas Lombardi, born June 11, 1913, in Brooklyn, N.Y., died of cancer Sept. 3, 1970, at the age of 57.
The following is from www.vikings.com, and constitutes nearly 20 percent of the "History of the Vikings" portion of www.vikings.com:

"In their opening game on September 17 1961, the Vikings gave their followers a little taste of what the next 47 years would be like. After a slow start rookie quarterback Fran Tarkenton jumped off the bench and began working his magic. Tarkenton threw four touchdown passes and ran for another as he led the Vikes to a 37-13 victory over the Chicago Bears."

The attention devoted to the first game they played is mind boggling, especially with regard to the 47 years they've been around. I wish I could have seen that game, it must have been something.

So are they saying that Bud is a "native" Minnesotan? I didn't read that anywhere.

Somebody who lives in Minnesota. Have you ever known an American that wasn't born in America?
I have seent evidence that Vikings fans are Mayans.

We mayan won one of the first championships if we ever had a lead. I mayan figger they call them superbowls now.

We mayan won but we were wide right.

We mayan won but the snickers overfed our ego.

We mayan won but our false gawd threw a pick in a championship game and caused great fail and gnashing of teeth. Hypocrites... they didn't cross the river of doom, they stood and pointed fingers and mocked.

We is strong, we skol, we tax the **** out of us, we are...

Pretty loose to me, but OK.

Consider the individual you're discussing this with.

This ranks up there with BirthBite thinking Robin Zander wasn't really born in WI because Beloit is on the state line.

Good post. Yes, Bud is a naturalized Minnesotan. He showed us his Minnesota passport. What more do we need?
Bud Grant was born in Superior, Wisconsin. His real name was Harry Peter Grant Jr. Although he never won an NFL championship, his son Mike, won 6 Minnesota state championships as head football coach for Eden Prairie High School.

So Bud wasn't far from the Minnesota border if that helps.
I must be a Minnesohdun because I lived there for 10+ years despite being born in Milwaukee. Confused

There's some sound logic for you. Almost as lame as when the Champ used to talk about "championships" the Vikings won prior to the Superbowls and league mergers.
So if your patents are American, are on vacation in Mexico, and your mom goes into premature labor and gives birth, YOU are a Mexican. Sounds right.

That's lucid.
