The Green Bay Packers announced the acquisition of “Foamation, Inc.” the Wisconsin based company that created the iconic Cheesehead headwear. The announcement was made at Lambeau Field on Monday.
The foam Cheesehead has become a worldwide symbol of Packers fandom. The team now owns full rights to the icon after acquiring the founding company. The creators, Ralph and Sue Bruno, sold the rights to the team.
“After many years of working with family and friends to build the Cheesehead brand, we are pleased to pass it on to the Green Bay Packers,” said Ralph Bruno, per the Packers. “We have had a very special relationship with the Packers over the years, and my wife, Sue, and I are both very excited about what the Packers can do with the Cheesehead going forward.”
The company was originally established in Milwaukee in 1987.
The Packers will continue to sell Cheeseheads in the team’s pro shop and are planning to create more Cheesehead-related merchandise to grow the brand.
