Has there ever been a quicker first 14pts scored in an NFL game?

It was nice to see a kick returner get it past the 20. Can we sign Del Rodgers?

Wouldn't have been a bad pick but in comparison to who fell to TT's lap, well..there is no comparison.

My understanding has always been that TT was in fact going to take Roddy White, but TT changed course when Rodgers was inexplicably still available when GB was on the clock. Even then, he contacted people he knew at other teams, essentially asking them "what am I missing on this guy?", assuming there were red flags on Rodgers that he was unaware of.

But an article a few months ago indicated that TT went through that process *before* draft day.  He predicted AR's fall and was ready to make the pick should it occur as he expected.  It wasn't a last minute decision but rather was a well thought out choice.  Exactly what I would expect from TT.

Well, as someone who lived, groaned, seldomly cheered, and mostly died every Sunday during the "Sorry Years," I have been livin' the dream for the past quarter century plus! Yes, I remember those Sunday afternoon beat-downs and the jeers of our rivals all too well. As much as I love football and the G&G, it was a tough three hours every week. Now it's time to kick some Dallass butt and get on a roll again!

(And I don't care if AR landed in TT's lap or if TT had a crystal ball that told him six months in advance that AR would be available, TT was still smart enough to pick him. Thanks, Ted!)

Nice piece, but that period was something you really had to experience to appreciate how bad it was. The decision by committee approach taken by the organization at the time left me with the impression that winning wasn't a very high priority as long as the stadium remained full. Very difficult not to be cynical during that time.

3hrs?  I never watched a full game in the 70's when I was a kid.  Green Bay was usually blown out by halftime.   My neighborhood friends and I would start up a backyard football game around halftime in the 70's.

We would also be playing football outside in the 70's easily by halftime and when we did we spent some time picking on the Packers when we did.  If a friend threw in INT we would call him Taggee, Whitehurst, or Campbell.  Honestly during those years (and parts of the 80's) if you told me we would make the playoffs much less some super bowls I would have told you that you were completely insane and laughed at you.  To this day I still appreciate every Sunday because I know still how it felt back then.

Yep.  I have to remind myself that there is an entire generation of GBP fans who have absolutely no idea what it's like to root for a team that's pretty much guaranteed to be terrible every year.  That obviously creates a totally different perspective and mindset where winning seems almost like a birthright.  I still appreciate every win, every good season and every other positive aspect of being a GBP fan based largely on what it was like to root for the buffoons that wore the green and gold in my youth.

I remember how happy I was in 1989. Majik mowing down the Cowboys TWICE. Beating the Vikings 20-19 in County Stadium (I was there). I also remember being so pissed off by 1991 that if they didn't change the way things were run in Green Bay, I wasn't going to be much of a football fan at all. Ron Wolf saved us & me. I expected the NFL to turn into MLB. Fortunately, that never happened & now all 32 teams have a shot. It ain't perfect but it's the best sports league.....for now.
