I think that's great and hope it comes true. I also think Joe should donate his brain for research. Rodgers isn't even half way through his career yet.

I didn't read this as "greatest QB ever." He said best "passer" and specifically mentions his throwing motion, spiral and ball placement. In that context, is it still too soon?

My initial reaction was that it was just Theismann saying something ridiculous, but upon reflection I'm not so sure he's that far off. In terms of ball placement and pin-point accuracy I haven't seen anyone better.
Brady & Manning are up there with Rodgers' accuracy & consistency. I would also put Brees as very accurate & consistent. Rivers? Not so much.
Last week Doug Gotlieb on ESPN radio was inferring that Rodgers may be the best ever if he continues like he has been playing.
If you think about it...Rodgers has it all. Accuracy, temprament, mobility, strength, toughness, leadership.
I guess only time will tell.

Remember when he held the ball too much sometimes? I sort of had the feeling that it would always be this way. Like that is just the way he is.
No, I was wrong. This means Rodger's ability to improve is very strong. Moreover, it seems he strives to improve.
My guess is Theisman could be right and in not being able to know, default into giving deference to the past. One person said of Jurgenson that even God couldn't throw a 15 yard flare out like Jurgenson could.

This is why I have always cheered for linemen and linebackers. Words like pretty and beautiful should not be in reference to real football players or anything they do. Save them for figure skating and diving.

same could be said of Tom Brady (not to mention the long, long list of first round QB's who scouts got fired over. And Brian Brohm).
Hasn't Rodgers said that when he came into the league he was fed some bad advice and turned teams off during the interview phase? Was very cocky/overconfident. He thought that's what teams wanted to hear

Jeff Tedford. The guy had a track record for terrible NFL QBs and I think because Rodgers mechanics were really funky, teams were leery.
Heard that some scouts also felt AR wasn't in the shape he needed to be in the NFL either.
And to Rodgers own admission, he said he didn't get into the shape he needed to be until 2007. From 2006 to 2007, coaches including MM noticed a huge difference in his body fat and speed. That helped alot.

Don't forget the skinny going into that draft was that most teams felt they "were set" at QB and didn't want the pressure associated with drafting a QB number 1. Face it, it takes balls for a GM/HC to be willing to pick a QB number 1 and let him sit for a few years, or manage the tension between incumbent starter and rookie phenom. Most organizations don't have the guts to do that. Granted, with Brent in the house there wasn't immediate pressure to get Rodgers on the field, but taking that same perspective, there wasn't immediate pressure to draft him, either.
