We owe them an ass beating. And that's exactly what they're going to get.

I believe AR has a lot of pent up frustration. He needed to shake off a little rust.

It's not revenge he's after. It's the reckoning.

Wasn't this the mantra before last season's playoff exit and before this season's opener?

The Packers don't need revenge, reckoning or anything else.  They need to play like the elite offense they are with Rodgers.  And they need to have some of their playmakers/high picks on defense make a play or two.  The defense doesn't have to be counted on to win the game.  They just have to be good enough not to lose it.  I think SF's D should be a little concerned as to how they'll stop GB's offense.

An another big difference this week from the past 3 meetings:  The Packers are at home and the weather will be COLD!  This should has some effect on the Niners.

The defense just isn't good enough to allow this team to roll with the elite teams in this league, and we're going up against one of the best on Sunday. Add to that they're on a six game heater right now...I don't like our chances all that well.

Like I've said, however, when you have the best player in the league on your side, anything could happen. We're playing with the proverbial house money right now, so I'm just going to enjoy the show.

Packers still win division (3-3 in division vs. Bears 2-4 in NFC North)

ESPN Sux just showed some highlights...well concerns...that Hodge has regarding GB's D and what hasn't been fixed in a long time.

And that is defending bunch formations in WR sets. The Bears who don't line up often that way, lined up ALOT like that because the Packers have shown time and again they don't defend it well. They also leave a TON of field open in front of these sets.

Look for a lot of that on Sunday. Whiners should be stacking WR's until/unless Capers can figure out how to defend it.

From SI.com

"With the Ravens eliminated from the playoff race, the NFL's longest current streak of consecutive playoff seasons now belongs to New England and Green Bay, with five each."

Go Packers
Last Tuesday GB was a 30-1 Super Bowl pick. Today they are 12-1 and 5th best bet out of the 12 playoff teams just behind SF.

NoCal sports reporter just came on and made the "I hear Green Bay is exceptionally beautiful this time of year" line to the laughter of his fellow Bay Area journalistic gasbags.

Harbaugh is going to bitch about having to go on the road. Only question is if it's pre or post loss.

I have two. Not helping.

The Packers will win if they do the following:

Win time of possession by 10+ minutes (We were plus 10 against the Bears.)

No Mistakes (Turnovers or bad penalties...only one penalty against the Bears but two ints)

Finish drives with touchdowns!!!!!

Defense needs a few stops (5 punts, a fumble and and int to stop Bear drives, terrible in the 3rd quarter)

The turnovers almost killed us against the Bears but we were able to overcome them.  That won't happen against SF.  We are a different team now than in week one.  We need to be able to run the ball to control the clock.  That will keep the D off the field as much as possible.  Capers needs to hammer into the defense that need to keep their assignments and don't allow the big plays.  SF is going to score on us, how long it takes will be important.

That being said:

GB 34 - SF 24

Hoping is NOT for the players.  Don't see why it sometimes is not reasonable for a fan.

Just off the top of my head, I am thoughtful of the famous Monday Nighter against the Redskins team that won the SB the year before.  (Was it 48-47 Pack?)

I couldn't see the Packers winning that game.  No way.  But, I sure hoped and I sure watched the game to the end.

Anyway, to reiterate.  Big difference between appropriate mentalities for players versus fans.

just my opinion

The Packers need a few things to win:

1. Raji to show up and be an actual factor. You want the big bucks? Step up and show you're worth it puddin' pop, put away the roller skates and man up.

2. Win the turnover battle, or at least not turn the ball over.

3. They need to be fundamentally sound. Minimize penalties, be assignment-sure and technique-sure and generate some pressure up-front.

If these three things happen, I think they win.

try humping their legs and let me know if that helps

I don't care if the Packers lose 60-0 in the divisional round, beating the 49ers would make this season a memorable one. I don't buy this idea that a season where you don't win the Super Bowl is automatically a failure. Seeing this team come back and win the division and win a playoff game after losing 40-10 on Thanksgiving with such a deeply flawed roster is a successful season in my book.

While I want them to win every game, beating the Bears to win the Division (and knock them out) especially the way the Packers won, that made this particular season.  Everything else is gravy.  If they were healthier, I'd expect more.  But the defense is missing Clay, Jolly, Hayward, a Safety and a bunch of other contributors who are really banged up.

That's the passing yards the vaunted Niner D gave up in the past two games to Palmer and Ryan.  Sorry, but GB's offense is way more explosive than those two teams.

I doubt we'll see the passing game do that much at 0 degrees and below. Low scoring is likely the outcome of a game in those conditions. Packers can win, though they are not the better team. The best player is Rodgers and he will be limited in those conditions. If they passed for anything like those two teams did against the Niner's it would be shocking, pleasing, but shocking in those conditions.
