There is a LOT of angst out there about the play of Thon Maker. His play has certainly regressed.

But I submit that he is right on schedule. Teams with powerful big men are pushing him around- Adams, Jordan, Horford, and a slew of others regularly push him under the basket and hammer he Bucks on the O boards.

But that has to be expected. He’s more of a 4 than a 5, and while he’s certainly put on some muscle, he’s a long way away from being able to bang with the big guys. But he’s getting better, and if the staff can convince him to be confident in his mid-range game, he becomes a weapon.

Mans hes 20... 2 years of work and protein shakes and he’ll start to hold up in the paint.

Thon certainly gets a lot of hate thrown his way for under-performing, but I still remain higher on him overall than most. Whether the fact he's 20 is up for debate, regardless the man is still young, tall, and most importantly still wants to improve and has skills that lend itself well for future success. I don't see him as an MVP type guy like KG or Jarbari have said, but maybe topping out at a few all-star appearances is still not out of the question long term. Gotta believe the shots start falling as he gains comfort on being on a NBA court and hopefully starts playing smarter with said skill set.

If you have told me he was playing like this right now immediately after we drafted him, I would have been more than satisfied with that outcome roughly 1 and third seasons in. It's the fact that he looked so good at the end of last year and then, not only didn't made a second year leap, but seemed to regress that has been disappointing. He raised expectations by how he played at the end of last year.
