Yeah, I know it's in the Ray Rice thread, but F him.

The real debate gets down to; is Thursday night football good and would expanded rosters help?

The biggest fear of expanded rosters, per stuff and thangs, is that teams would use it to hide players who might have to go on IR or to go too far in specialization, therefore assing up game-planning.  Another factor is the CBA and it's reasonable to assume that the negotiated contract has factors regarding salary and the lower players on the salary scale at the bottom of the roster.

TBH, I have been pleasantly surprised on the 'quality' matchups that Thursday football has had so far this year.

BUT.

The games have still been junk.  They look like they'd be good games, but oh my damn, they have just been junk.

These guys needs a good amount of time to recover for good football.  Maybe part of it is for game planning, part of it for recovery, but whatever the NFL has been going for... so far in 2015 it's NOT working.  I almost think I would rather have 2 Monday night games instead, with the late game being on the West Coast.

NFLFU, wake up and get back to something reasonable.  Despite your numbers, the Thursday night football is crap.

Good question Yooper, but how many games every week are played every week in the PST?

Who are the choices?

Seattle

Oakland

49ers

San Diego

Denver

Arizona

Yup.  You have a good point.  6 teams in MST or PST.  That means in a 16 game season, each team would get around 3, regardless of their success.  If the Rams move west, call it 7.

I am sure any of those teams would gladly play on a Monday at prime time west coast time.  But, looking at it, the numbers don't work.

I still think, other than Thanksgiving, Thursday football sucks!

As long as the networks want Thursday, Sunday, and Monday night games, and they write the checks for them, they won't go away. It sucks for the players, but that's the reality of life in today's NFL.

I like H5's idea on roster expansion. Those numbers should work for everyone.

Surely the NFLPA would have to approve, but I don't know why they wouldn't. More members = more dues. I would suppose the CBA would have to be modified (if that's possible), but it should be a formality unless the league or union want to modify other parts. If the CBA would have to be renegotiated to approve roster expansion, that may not happen until the current one expires.

In the meantime, I'd like to see the league manage the schedule better. Teams coming into a Thursday or Monday game should have the same amount of prep time, and the same amount of recovery time after their games. It's also a bit unfair that a team may have a 12-13 day break after a Thursday game, and their opponent may only have 6-7 for a Sunday game.

Ditto for the bye week. Have all teams off for the week after Week 8. As it is currently, one team always has a potential advantage over their opponent until all teams have had their bye.

Double ditto for the London games. I'm dinosaur enough to say do away with them, with the possible exception of pre-season.
