The offense regressed in 2012. There's no denying that. And there's little denial that too often opposing DC's weren't caught off guard by what the Packers offense did. There's a ton of film on this offense and plenty of coordinators had them figured out.

Harris was/is a nice wrinkle but I really don't think Clements brought much if any creativity to the talented personnel he had to work with.

Yup something changed in KC last December. Not sure what but all of a sudden guys were not as wide open, guys were not making obscene catches (other than Jones). D,s came up with something and MM did not seem to respond.

That's nuts considering GB was only down by 3.

The Packers only had the ball four times in the first half. The pick-6 and Ross fumble resulted in back-to-back possessions for the 49ers.

In those four possessions they had a 3 and out on the first series, and two TDs with the Rodgers int in between.

Rodgers talked about the offense needing to hang on to the ball longer to give the defense a chance. And surely the offense could have been a bit better on those two first half drives. But that TOP difference really falls on the defense's inability to get off the field on 3rd downs. 49ers owned 3rd down in that first half, and they were 3rd and longs.

I know there will be a lot of debate on whether it was the scheme or the players or both. But this is a recurring pattern with this team -- I think back to a year ago and those third and longs that Manning was easily converting with all the time in the world. This time it was the same result, just a different weapon - CK making plays out of the pocket.

Folks may say it's one game, or a knee jerk reaction, but I beg to differ. In light of the defense's performance in 2009, 2011, and now in 2012, it sure looks like 2010 is the anomaly. This defense can shut down the Tennessee's or Jacksonville's or Arizona's of the world. But outside of their consistent success against Chicago and that one run in 2010, they really seem to struggle with good QBs. I think it's time to turn the page on the Capers regime.

Couple that with the Ross fumble...

Game over.

Add the Favre-like pick that Rodgers threw up for grabs on the possession immediately following the muffed punt. Packers went from up 14-7 to down 21-14 in the span of about 5 minutes, if that. The game completely changed and the Packers were playing uphill from then on.

Where was Harris in the 2nd half? The one RB we have that makes something happen and he is on the pine. Confused MM panics when behind and completely abandons the run game. This plays right into the hands of a defense like the niners or gints.

This team needs to do some serious soul-searching this off-season on both sides of the ball. Opposing teams have figured us out and it's time for major adjustments.

This para sums it up. It is absolute irrefutable truth.

Good points. The INT/TD while good also worked against them. But TOP wasnt the problem...lack of defense and defensive adjustments is what hurt and then led to the TOP issue.

No it isn't, it's his opinion. There's a huge difference. You just happen to agree with it
