Because Fedya hates him.

I thought only Fedya sees dead people?
RIP Tom.
I was once part of a movement to send envelopes of Limburger cheese to Braatz.
Couple of pretty good picks in Butler and Sharpe.
RIP

Hateful.
(Wikipedia's obituary page hasn't been updated yet.)
He was going to draft Emmitt Smith - Until the Vikings gave Dallas all those F**king picks - then Dallas traded one slot in front of the Packers to draft Smith.
True story
Only personal thing I know about Braatz... When I was at UWGB in 1989, I had a student friend who had some questions for the Packers organization and gave them a call. He got routed to Tom Braatz who actually took the call from my friend and had a conversation for awhile. Apparently he was quite friendly and as forthcoming as he could be and answered all my buddy's questions.
Somehow I have my doubts just any old fan could just call a Packers GM on a whim nowadays. Different time and Packer fervor was not at the level back then as it is now even though there always has been a lot of interest in the team. I know Braatz really wasn't a true GM back then, but he was probably as close to being one as anybody during that time.
RIP Tom Braatz.
Right in line with what FIGHTPHOE93 posted, I wrote Braatz in 1991 about the draft (pages 13-14 of attached), and son of a gun if he didn't respond (page 15) -- and with a hand-written letter no less. Now that's old school! RIP Tom.
Holy moly!
That must've been your application to the fan HOF.
DH13, that's funny! No, that's just some of the stuff from my Packer scrapbook. The following attachment was actually what my son submitted for the Packer Fan Hall of Fame thing. And if you've never seen it and want a good laugh, you can watch my Oscars-like acceptance speech from Feb 2015: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNnc9IInDnU
You'll see -- like most all of you -- I really put the "Fanatic" in "Fan."

You sir, are a professional fan and we are merely amateurs.
Great material in there.
I feel kind of guilty now for liking football less and less.
Sterling, Butler, Jacke, and Paup were probably his best picks.
i didnât realize that it was Braatz, not Wolf, that hired John Dorsey and Jason Licht.
He will always be remembered for the Mandarich pick, but it was a different team with a different power structure and much different expectations.

BLAIR KIEL, that's very kind of you to say. Thank you. But after being a member of X4 for 16 years now, there is no doubt in my mind that you and many others here are just as "professional" a Packers fan as I am. I have come here every single day for years because I appreciate reading yours and others' posts that demonstrate not only a true love for the Packers, but reflect fans who are deeply knowledgeable, know their history and facts, offer unique perspectives, enjoy a good back-and-forth, and importantly bring a great and refreshing sense of humor. Simply stated (once again):
So you skip Fedya's posts, then?
Thank you for proving my point!
