The dude is seriously playing well. He's becoming George Kittle LITE right before our eyes. He was in Kittle's wedding as a groomsman, they're good friends.

3 years - 11 TD's scored - Tonyan

4 years - 14 TD's scored - Kittle

If he keeps up that blocking, like in the clip above, I don't see how you can let this guy go.

found it interesting, looking at the draft and how long it takes for a TE to bake.  watching 88 in det this weekend, this guy was drafted as a bonified game wrecker - which he is becoming btw - but it takes 3-4 years for a TE it seems...just found that interesting, drafting a TE is a long play.  last guy that I think caught on really quick might have been jeremy shockey or jimmy graham?

Then if some other team signs him the Packers can just give them Jordan Love.

To play TE?

Kittle Lite may be warranted but not based on a stats comparison.  Kittle has been out with injury a lot the last 2 years.  Would you rather have Tonyan 16 games or Kittle, say, 8 games?  Probably Tonyan?  Guess it depends on which 8 games.

Ability. Accountability & Availability.

What I love about the last pass that Tonyan caught is that the defender was about to tackle him short of the first down and he flipped over him to pick up the required yardage. He makes so many smart plays...

Good piece on Big Bob from Demovsky.

For the first time in his history as GM, Gutey was right when he said "we love his catch radius."

Best part is how he responded. It also goes to show that as much as we think these guys have all the confidence in the world because they're in the NFL, so many of them are missing inner confidence and have made it there just on talant. It's only when they find their confidence that their true talant comes out. I also loved the insider glimpse into how players call each other out. Good article.

When I read that the first guy I think about is Greg Jennings. I bet Rodgers used the same type of motivation tactics on him. It fueled "Bobby" and made Gerg bitter and angry.

Two totally different ways to handle being challenged.

What is frustrating is that was obvious to so many of us fans. Why did it take so long to give him the chance?

Yes. I loved Tonyan from the moment he made his first catch. The fluidity down the field and the soft hands. He made it look so easy. No, the blocking wasn't there, and he may never be an elite blocker. But he's the modern TE, the guy who can go down the seam, outrun the LBs, and catch the ball. Pay him to keep him.
