Boom or bust at the top.

Wiggins and Embiid are both capable of being game changers, but both come at a high risk.  Parker and Randle are not as high upside IMHFUO, but that is not really a problem at the top of this draft.  Still really good picks.  Exum is a wild card IMHYAADAO, he might be the type of risk Giannis turned out to be.  Vonleh is as close to a sure thing as I can see IMSTFUO, I see him being a solid contributor, occasional all star for his whole career.  Smart will blow up, not in a good way.  After that it doesn't matter.

I think Smart is far less risky than Embiid or Wiggins.  The guy is passionate and plays hard and his skills would make him a matchup problem because he's big and physical but very athletic.  He sort of reminds me of Wade but he's more advanced with his shot than Wade was coming out.   I also think it's interesting that people question his maturity yet he returned to school for another year even though he would have been a top 3 pick last year.

We all know about the Texas Tech incident but he's a very good prospect and could help the Bucks a lot.

Draft history is littered with big men that either never lived up to the expectations or others that simply flamed out.  I like Embiid but like Exum there is a lot of built up hype and I worry about Embiid's health.  We all know what happened with Greg Oden and this franchise cannot afford to have an Oden type outcome in the draft.

The other factor is when motivated we've seen the impact that Larry Sanders can make on the court and they have Zaza and Henson and even Middleton to eat up minutes as well.  Parker coming in to play the 3 spot would be the perfect fit to go along with Knight and the Alphabet Kid and Sanders.

I suppose it depends on who he matches up against, but he has the ball skills and shooting ability to make it work. He's too skinny to be a 4, and if it does end up being Parker, I don't know if he's a 2. And maybe this summer Antetokoumpo will kinda show us what he is. And maybe that tips the Bucks' hand some. Maybe you can get away with Parker at the 2 with do many shot-blockers behind him (and Antetokoumpo is one of them).
Not with the top pick I don't think so. He has skills/talent, but I don't know how professional he'll be. We already have one problem child on this team (Sanders) that we have to hope will mature. Smart has an awful lot of growing up to do. He can't take a Texas Tech heckler, what is he going to so with racist taunts from Boston or New York?

If the Bucks somehow get completely hosed and are out of the top 3, you may want to take the chance. Top 3? I wouldn't...
