Good reading. Tough job. Find the talent and never get credit. Being a great scout has to be somewhat dependent on continuity, right? You don't want to spend a year looking for guy's that fit only to find out Chip Kelley is the new head coach.

Good scouts don't look just for guys who fit a certain system. They look at everybody, figure out who can play at the NFL level then categorize players who fit different systems.

 

A smart GM knows that his coach can change and that systems can change and he;d better have scouting done to handle those changes otherwise the GM is going to be toast too.
