But it's all about catching the ball. look at Chris Carter, he was never that fast and the last few years he was downright turtle-esque. Yet he still caught a lot of balls and TDs with great hands, body positioning (and some judicious pushing off techniques). Finley doesn't need to burst by guys to make plays, he really didn't often then either.
Remember that Finley was recruited to play basketball at Arizona out of high school. Anyone that is saying he is not an elite athlete (at least at one point in his career) is kidding themselves. Based on athletic ability alone, Finley could have been a top 3 TE. But whether it's due to attitude, mental blocks or injury, he's not. But it's definitely not due to a lack of athletic ability.
Why would we cut him? You get nothing for him, he could be signed by a division or conference rival, and you still take a cap hit. If they don't trade Finley, which I don't anticipate they will, we're stuck with him until the beginning of March. At that point I anticipate they will have no desire to pay whatever roster bonus he is do and then release him. They will be trying to trade him before that though, but I don't see anyone giving anything for him.

Those boom or bust guys certainly went bust for New England last year when Haynesworth bombed out and Chad Ochocinco/Johnson really didn't help them much. At least Chad Ochocinco/Johnson kept his mouth shut for the year, he just had lost too much speed due to father time.

Talib is really talented and could help them. He better wake up and realize that if he fails in New England, it might be his last stop. Or at the very least if he fails there, people won't spend anything more than a minimum salary on him.
