I was also dismayed when I saw Cobb start to throw that lateral. But if it had worked, we all would be saying that it was a "great. gutsy call" at that time. Thinking back a few weeks we had fake FG and a fake punt and the both worked fine. If either of them had failed, it would have given the other team great field position and we would all be saying MM should have pinned them back with a punt instead of the fakes. If this lateral had worked, Ross would have had a wide open field to run for perhaps a TD or perhaps some very good yardage. He just had to catch the ball!

I think most of us would agree that the play itself was fine and even had a chance with some execution. I don't think you'll find anyone that would even consider it in that particular situation.

Even if that goes the distance for a TD, I'm not so sure a fair catch and draining 4 minutes of clock wouldn't be more valuable in that spot.
Disagree. There's a right time to do it and a wrong time. That was the wrong time, no matter what the outcome. Secure the ball and work on your running game and milk some clock. An 11 point lead and the ball was more than enough at that point, especially considering where it happened on the field.
I could see it if they were behind with time running out,I would be disappointed if they didnt try some trickery but why in the hell do it with a lead with time on your side,it just seems so illogical for an MM led team to try something foolish like that, it is truly shocking to witness it,even had it worked it was dumb to try. Negatory. There was a defender about 6 feet away from Ross. Doubt if he would have got 5 yards.
