3 run shot by Wiems ! 3-0 Crew.
He is one big athlete.
Weimer's defense is good enough to keep him in the majors. Right now anything he does at the plate is a bonus. He has star written all over him.
That's all speed. Weimer and Turang ending up on 2nd and 3rd on the hit and then both scoring on a sharp single.
And just like that. 5 run lead.
Adames hits this one wide open. 6-1 Crew.
#101 and a blowout.
All theses runs and the ump has a shit strike zone on our hitters.
Earl Weaver was right, those 3 run homers are the way to go.

The first pitch to Yelich was pretty sad.
9 runs on 8 hits. Gotta love that.
Very glad to see them relying on home runs again
I wouldn't say they relied on it. They manufactured 3 runs and got a quality start from Peralta.
Truang, Taylor, Wiemer trio can do some damage. Especially if Yelich can hit with them on base.
Is there anybody who kills the Brewers more than Freddy Freeman? He did as a Brave and now continues as a Dodger. Too bad we couldn't afford him when he left Atlanta.
Who was our last big name free agent position player signing? Larry Hisle? π
Onward!
Baseball is such an unlevel playing field that a team like the Brewers can only be a serious player if a group of prospects peak at the same time. There's a small window and for the Brewers it all has to fall in place. An expensive signing like Yelich that really doesn't work out basically dooms this type of franchise from being competitive in the free agent market. They simply can't overcome that type of mistake. They have an outstanding young nucleus of Weimer, Mitchell, Turang, Contreras, Frelick, Chourio, etc that offers hope.
Not only that, but a few key injuries can put a small market team like Milwaukee behind an almost insurmountable 8-ball.
Team like the Dodgers, or the Mets-if one of their studs goes down, they can spend whatever they want/need to acquire a replacement.
The Brewers lose a guy like Brandon Woodruff for God knows how long, and weβre in deep trouble if anything happens to Corbin Burnes or Freddy Peralta. We were playing on razor thin margins already.
Weβve also lost a full year of development for Aaron Ashby and Garrett Mitchell, and that hurts tremendously.
Iβd say Paul Goldschmidt is a pretty good Brewers killer. Freeman is certainly another one.
As for the Brewers in general, yes they canβt spend what the Dodgers or Mets can, but how about the Braves and Astros and Red Sox and Cardinals?? They are in that 130-150M range (give or take). The Brewers are 90M and thatβs with Yelich at 25M.
Literally 1/3 of the teams in MLB have no interest in spending anything. We know the usual suspects. The Pirates, Orioles, As, Reds, Royals, etc. You could consider the Brewers in that group as well.
The Cubs have a pretty hefty payroll too. Not to mention the 2nd highest paid player on their team at $22 mil is Jason Hayward. What? Maybe the Yelich deal wasn't so bad. That does show the difference between the two franchises. One gets crippled by a bad contract and the other discards the player like yesterday's newspaper and gives out another fat contract.
The Cardinals pay Goldschmidt, Arenando, and Wainwright, and Micholas a total of $97 million this season.
