Against one of the best lineups the first 3 games the starters allowed 2 runs in 15 innings.  Woodruff was throwing fine yesterday but trying to paint the edges more than he should have.  If you fall behind in count good luck against patient MLB hitters.   I vote NO on spending the money for a starter.

Hader bothers me a lot.  When on he is immaculate.  Velocity doesn't seem to be the issue as much as location.  Working with a pitching coach to help him to maintain consistency in his delivery would be a great value.  When Derek left I felt we would digress as a staff and believe that to be more likely.

Pina not Perez.

Was happy for Thames.  Aguillar is just lost right now....much like Shaw.

I also wonder about the loss of Derek Johnson. It seems it's more of pitch call and location being the bigger issue as opposed to talent.  Coaching is a big part of that.  Battery can play a part, but in key moments they signal in the pitch call.

Consistently

And of course. But that doesn’t change the fact that every team can afford a $200 million payroll . It just means some owners will make a lot of $$$ instead of a really lot of $$$.

Houser pitched better than the stats show.  Opposite field bloops and good pitches hit in rong place.  Looked poised and with good repertoire.  25 and learning with 4 major league pitches should be a bright future.

Regarding the young starters and pitching coach, didn't DJ emphasize getting ahead in count?  Houser comes up with 3 starts in AAA with 2 walks and immediately falls behind regularly?  Hoping it was nerves and not being told to work edges.
