JJ is a luxury. If TT knew JN would have a breakout year and that RC would develop so fast as the slot receiver I doubt JJ even gets the contract he did.

There has to be added value if you can package flynn and JJ together.

Since you listed JF as 2nd in your list of WR's, I kind of doubted your knowledge. Glad to see you are on top of it.

I won't list you in the pecking order as to who ARod will be throwing to next year, because you are too valuable here on the sidelines as the resident GM genius in waiting.
Actually he is 3rd on my list but I will let that slide. So by being afraid of answering the ? I take it you now realize GB is paying the #5 target millions a year.

JJ went into this year thinking he had a chance at the #2 spot. Going into next year he knows he is at best the #4 option. You think he wants that? I can guarantee you he wants out of GB in the worst way.

hey MBs are about people giving opinions. You can agree with me or not. Its up to you. I'm just throwing what I think is best for the team.

The beat writers on twitter have mentioned trade possibilities with JJ all year long. They don't make stuff out of thin air.
This is music to my ears:

The Dolphins want to upgrade from last year’s quarterbacks, first Chad Henne and then Matt Moore, and the most obvious way to do that would be to sign Matt Flynn, the Packers backup who looked good in limited action running Philbin’s offense in Green Bay. Ross indicated that price won’t be an obstacle to getting the right quarterback in Miami. β€œI’m looking for a franchise quarterback,” Ross said. β€œThat’s the highest thing on our agenda.”

The Hawk signing was a big mistake. The guy showed he was not a play-maker and still got a huge deal. Dumb move financially and from a PP evaluation standpoint.

As for the reason the Pack missed another championship run, I don't think you can blame TT for a laundry list of players regressing beyond belief: Tramon, Shields, Woodson, Hawk, Raji, Wynn, Wilson, Zombo, Walden, etc...but he did make several key mistakes in Hawk, Jenkins, and the draft(OLB).

Not resigning Jenkins, with what was known at the time, was a good move. Jenkins missed many games in 2 of the 3 previous season with injuries. He missed 4-5 games down the stretch in the Super Bowl season. Over 30, and with an injury history, was a reason not to resign.

I disagree. I think the reasons mentioned were strong as to not over-pay him in FA. However, when Jenkins' market dried up and he became available for a very reasonable price, I think it was a mistake in not resigning him. A chance worth taking if you have the Giants or the Lions D-line depth. A chance taken where it turned out about as poorly a possible....Jenkins had a great year in Philly and nobody was able to remotely replace him(Insert highly disappointed in 2nd round draft pick Mike Neal here).

All GM's make mistakes. We'll see how TT is able to fix the holes in the defense at DE, OLB, safety, etc...to make another run.

The guy has a better hit ratio than the majority of GM's. I have a hunch the Packers defense will be better next year.
This is such bull. So what if Thompson pays Jenkins the money he wants, he gets hurt and we're in the same situation...then hacks like McGinn would be complaining that Thompson overpaid an old, oft-injured player while younger players like Neal are getting their development stunted due to a lack of PT. And if Thompson lets Hawk walk and DJ Smith was a bust then McGinn would complain about how Hawk wasn't great but he was better than nothing and we could have won a SB with him as a starter. Either way Ted Thompson made the wrong move in McGinn's eyes.

Better to let a player go a year too early than a year too late. That saying has never failed.
What we have as a team is what happens when you draft the BPA. Some drafts, you end up with a lot of defense, some a lot of offense. Our D got better with CM3 and Raji, but then we drafted a lot of offense. They were the BPA and that shaped our team. Reach for positions and you get Justin Harrell. Draft BPA and you get Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb. The you play to your strengths.

I don't see it as dissing Thompson. The guy has proven himself as a fantastic GM. He does need to be held partly responsible though for fielding one horrible defense this year. Some of his moves/non-moves contributed to the poor quality of the defense.
It's hard to believe how good the D was in 2010 after watching the poor play this year. 2nd best in points allowed and I believe top 8 for yardage given up in 2010.

To go from that to 2nd worst yardage given up in NFL history in one offseason, I certainly don't think anyone could have forseen that kind of drop off even with Jenkins not coming back. I don't blame TT at all for focusing more on the offense in the off-season as the defense was the stronger unit that carried the Pack at times in 2010.

TT's not stupid, he saw the weaknesses just like we all did. He'll give some of these guys 1 more shot, but he's going to have some competition for many of them that they didn't have coming into this year. I've got to believe there's about 6 starting jobs on defense that won't be handed to anyone, plus I think Shields will be put on notice as well as the top nickel corner, he really regressed.
Hindsight is always 20/20. There is some rationalizing and fact changing too. This version that Jenkins never gave the Packers an opportunity to match is something fairly recent. What offer did the Packers make? NFL players do not have the luxury of doing what Shaq O'Neil did. "Spiting" their former team by taking "only" $100,000,000 instead of 125 million. Jenkins signed a bad contract because it was all he could get. Period. Had the Packers been able to forsee the domino effect it had on the entire defense they would have re-signed him.

As for A.J Hawk.....Bob McGinn has a point. He has an agenda too. But he has a point.
To win a Super bowl a team has to be good, but also lucky. This year the Packers were not very lucky. By Luck I mean injuries, players having good years, and unexpected players stepping it up. For the most part the Packers did not have very many players stepping it up and many having bad years. Add a pass rusher or two the Packers defense will be a lot better. The only problem is good pass rushers are going to be at a premium this year.
