I can't wait to see these players on the field of play in Packers uniforms: James Vaughters and Ty Montgomery

Vaughters:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xcy2xoZI60Q

Montgomery, "The Phenom":  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBdrCoLIJJU

These are two insanely talented players at their respective positions, but add in what they both bring to our STs, and I can see they both will make some great contributions in our 2015 season. I think Vaughters is so good on STs that he easily makes this final 53 man roster. Not to mention, he was the most effective OLB per snap in the entire draft per PFF. Watch his film and you can clearly see how he might be a huge plus on our D, both rushing the passer and in shutting down the run.

Packers west coast scout, Sam Seale watched every Stanford practice because his son was on the team. That's unprecedented access and both Montgomery and Vaughters caught his eye. At least we know he's smart too.

OLB candidates for 2015:

Matthews

Peppers

Perry

Neal

Hubbard

Mulumba

Elliot

Dantzler

Vaughters

9 guys with 5-6 roster spots open + the PS. The likely departure of Perry in 2016 opens a slot for a hungry youngster next year. Makes for an exciting battle at TC and there's no such thing as too many pass-rushers

I think that's it in a nutshell, Boris!

Just looking at what these two players bring to our STs units, man, what a couple of great additions. Both players are exceptional at what they do there. Add in that they are no slouches at their respective positions, and this looks very good.

I do think Vaughters will be something special for us on the pass rush front, and OLB in general. Dude is 6-2 260. 124 tackles, 22 TFL 12.5 sacks, 4 PD and 3 FF while at Stanford.

Here's a good take from the Stanford area on why he went undrafted: http://www.ruleoftree.com/2015...sign-james-vaughters

Now, look at this from PFF on how he rates compared to all LBs in his draft class, both in pass rush productivity and run stop percentage: https://www.profootballfocus.c...tats-edge-defenders/

He tops both lists. I think we got us a football player. Should be fun to see him play.

Vaughters is another guy who can play outside and inside. The necessity to move CM3 inside last year gave Capers more to work with in moving players around, something he likes to do on his D. (see C-Wood previously, a little with Hyde). In an earlier post Satori listed CM3 as one of the guys for OLB, but if they play him a lot on the inside again and Vaughters can do the same, and Bradford too, they have more flexibility as to which LBs they keep on the 53 to get to the 9 or 10 total LBers.
